Now Crockett's voters will have to return in November and vote. I hope her first time voters do not become disillusioned and decide to sit it out.

And the other major question is: Will Paxton's voters show up for Cornyn in November without Trump on the ballot?

Yes. The prediction is that if Cornyn is the candidate he will win.

It's a long way to election day, and American people seem to want change. It will be a very clear choice that Texans will be able to make about whether they want the 74 year incumbent Republican who has held that seat for a quarter of a century and is known for supporting tax cuts for billionaires while voting against the ACA providing health insurance for Americans and being anti-gay or a 35 year old Teach for America vet and Presbyterian seminarian who speaks decent SPanish.

I don't see how that's going to stop him.

Would it be possible to sue to get him off the ballot if his current status makes him ineligible?

Can't he just resign as US Attorney? I thought the rule was that you can't serve in both executive and legislative branches at the same time. Is there some rule you can't also be a candidate?

If he signed up as a candidate while he was a political appointee of the administration he’s just as ineligible as if he was only 27 years old and shouldn’t be able to be on the ballot.

Alme resigned as US Attorney right before signing up as a candidate.

Oh? Was there a press release confirming that?

I'm not sure what warrants the eye roll, especially when your answer is to lay out a kindergarten level explanation of the two candidates and state that it's a long way to election day, which means the tide could turn back in Trump's favor as it so often has.

Texas hasn't elected a Democrat to statewide office in over 30 years. And not for lack of trying. Cornyn's age and experience aren't going to be detractors for Republican voters or MAGA voters. They might have preferred Paxton because he's more MAGA but they will still turn out for Cornyn against any Democrat. The reverse is not true if Paxton is the candidate. That's where you may see people turning out to keep Paxton out of office and those are the votes that Talarico needs.

More details on this Montana thing - where are the MAGAs who supposedly hate when candidates are anointed?

So he’s confirming that he did everything on the up and up. Uh huh.

I’m one who thinks voters should have a say but after what democrats did when Biden dropped out I am at the point where I can’t muster any outrage about this.
You really have no room to complain.

Well, his opponent will run ads saying he's the reason MAGA/GOP can't release their sexual harassment payments because one was paid to a man on behalf of Cornyn. That's a scandal. Besides, he's too old and misogynistic.

Biden dropped out. There was no mechanism for a "mini primary" or any other solution. Harris was the vice President and legally controlled the campaign war chest. All of the other potential candidates endorsed her with a day or two of the Sunday announcement. If the public felt like Biden could still handle the job, he would have continued to run, but that was not the case and at that late date, there wasn't another mechanism, other than a brokered convention, which would have been a nightmare.
