I know what you mean. It was still great, but the last two before it were real highs — maybe somebody needs to offer us some juice ha? There were small moments I enjoyed. Robby catching King getting emotional and telling her not to apologize for that (after Robby had to take a break for same). Hit nurse giving juice to Javadi and telling her she had done a great job. I thought the mom did a good job trying to talk to her disturbed son, even if he didn’t take it well. Whitaker talking to Robby. Drug stealing doctor talking to Jake. Robbie yelling at the manager and his friend doctor coming over to talk him down. Only one episode left and I wonder what will happen. I really thought the shooter was going to be the guy who punched the nurse (and still think this could happen and stir trouble for the hospital with the ER wait times being the cause of a mass shooting). Hope the show sticks its landing! |
Such as? The explanation was simply that her character had a miscarriage so was told to go home and turn her phone off. That’s all we had to go off of. |
+1 |
Did anyone think it was odd that Robby didn’t interact with Jake at all in this episode? He was him in the hallway and was actively avoiding him. |
Meant to say “saw” |
Dr. King will always be my favorite, but Whitaker is good too. You can really see him growing into his role as doctor as he realizes he really is good enough. |
He thinks Jake blames him for Leah's death (and I think he blames himself too), so that made sense to me. |
It felt kind of anticlimactic after all the drama peaking, to just go back to business as usual. But it did convey the reality which is they just have to move on with no time to really process. What I did like is how they found a way to cap some character arcs in a nice way. Javadi getting a juice box from Utah, Whittaker showing his core decency and strength despite having a rattled start to the day, and Mel/Mohan getting recognition for being great emerging doctors who stood up to a crazy situation. Did not like seeing McKay cuffed, felt like a wrong ending to the episode. There’s still a lot of up and down with Santos and Langdon plots and maybe we will see some resolution there next week in the finale. I absolutely love the night shift characters they’ve introduced. |
I think Slo Mo and Whitaker are my favorites now. |
When are they going to deal with Langdon? It was incredibly awkward when he and Santos were together again. It’s not fair - he’s been stealing drugs and should be out of there. |
+1 as soon as I saw the rash I suspected measles. |
Who is the new doctor with King? He’s sexy! |
Kind of premature to say that since it's only been one 12 hour shift. I thought the ending with McKay was dumb, I don't like that story line. The rock paper scissors with Whitaker and Santos was cute. |
A 12 hour shift with a mass casualty event. Growth happens over time, but also in leaps. I think this was a big moment for Whitaker. He was tested unexpectedly not only by the shooting, but by seeing Robby completely vulnerable and desperate. I like McKay, but even if I didn't, that was such a bad outcome. She's supposed to let people die because her stupid ankle bracelet malfunctioned? Her ex seemed to gain some minimal respect for her watching the crisis unfold, and to get hat his kid loves and needs his mom. Hopefully he will insist that Chloe backs off. It was definitely a weird feeling going directly from absolute crisis mode to let's get back open to trauma. But I guess that's the reality of the ER. I would agree that it was a less "enjoyable" episode, but it feels authentic and necessary for the story. |
This thread has too many pages for me to look back, but did you know the actress Taylor Dearden’s (Dr King) father is Bryan Cranston in real life? |
