I hear you. I also don’t buy that a busy ER doc would ask to attend the funeral of a kid he literally just met that day. Or sit in a room and cry like that. It felt a little like ER but different. And not as interesting. I want to see more relationship stuff.

This isn't that kind of show, so it sounds like it's not directed to you as an audience. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but all the interviews indicate this is aimed at healthcare workers (many of whom are decidedly not interested in the drama and relationship stuff in medical shows), and it has really hit home for them.

It's different from pretty much all other medical shows. Some people who like other medical shows will like it, but some won't. That is sort of by design.

I disagree. They actually have started showing some glimpses of relationships - Javadi and Mateo. Santos and Garcia? I think they will be moving towards that in the future.

I mean, of course they speak to each other and have some level of relationship. This is not a show about robots. But it's never going to be designed around that primarily, a'la Grey's Anatomy.

Well Javadi asked Matteo out early on and he said no. Then she did some bad ass moves during the big casualty event and then he agreed. I think something is brewing.

She went to college at 13 and has a demanding, critical, overbearing mother. That's most of what we know about Javadi. Her awkwardness makes sense to me.

I think they would be cute together but I did find it strange that she asked him out on her first day of work. Didn't seem realistic.

New to this thread. Just watched the whole show. I loved it! I loved ER so I am not surprised. My thoughts in no particular order:

Love Dr. Robbie
Dr. Collins was kinda ho-hum, despite a good story. Needed to be developed more
Dr. King? Favorite! Scene stealer
Love Dr. Langdon, too, despite the drugs
And Dr. Whitaker- totally rooting for him
Even knowing that she acts the way she does because she’s insecure doesn’t make me hate Dr. Santos any less. I have known people like hee in my graduate career and they are the WORST.
The head nurse is great but a little one note.

I read somewhere that so many of the bit parts were given to kids/family of famous actors- I wonder if that’s true.

I am so happy there will be another season!

I feel bad for the actress. Not her fault her part was less well written than the others. But I suppose if they were going to drop a character, hers was the obvious choice. Since each season is a single shift, no explanation required.

I think I posted this early on but if you haven't seen the medical show Code Black, check that one out To me, The Pitt is far more like it than it is like ER.
