I really like Doc, too. Molly Parker is perfect in the lead role. |
Why is someone asking if he’s Jewish? It’s not relevant to the thread and it’s just weird to ask. |
Of course it is. I am wondering if he's Jewish in real life like the character on the show. If not, it's kind of a weird thing to throw into an episode. |
I loved ER (up until all of the original cast members left). I wonder if this new show will take place entirely in the hospital or branch out to cover stories outside of it. |
You sound extremely anti-semitic |
No they really don't. I think they're concerned about non-Jews representing real ones. |
A story as old as time! See Mrs Maisel and Meet the Fabelmans |
Dude, it's called acting. If you're looking for "representation" in a show like this, you're... a little lost. You don't seem to have an actual complaint about the performance, or the content of the show. Stop making drama where there isn't any. |
It is very much a conversation, when and in what circumstances it's appropriate for someone to play a character whose demographics are so different from their own. If someone in blackface played a character, would that be a problem? If so, then why is it ok for someone not Jewish to play a Jewish character? I'm not saying that non-Jews can't play Jews - or that Jews can't play non-Jews! - but it is certainly an open conversation. |
And in any case, Wikipedia says his dad is Jewish, his mom is not, and he was raised with both traditions https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noah_Wyle |
Yes, what is up with his voice? |
You need to join the rest of us in the 21st century. Black face anyone? |
+1 Very much agreed. |
I was only asking because it was a weird thing to throw in there. "I'm Jewish actually". That's all it was. It was so random. I am also Jewish. |
Bro, there is a WORLD of difference between blackface and someone playing a character outside their religion in a completely benign, non-offensive way. If you don't understand that, I don't know how to help you. |
