Let’s see what happens after next year. I’m so sick of the panicking. Yes we are losing some beloved staff, but they were also huge Jon supporters. We all know Jon was lax and let the teachers run the show. He was there a long time and after so long you loosen up. The new principal isn’t like that - yet. Give him a chance. I have no doubt in a few years it will be great again under the new guys I’m not going to lose sleep over 12 classroom teachers and bunch of support staff leaving who weren’t even hired by the new principal. Did your kid have a good year this last year? Mine did. That’s what I’m focusing on. |
Teacher shortage. It's already end of June. Window for transferring from within FCPS has closed. We must panic!!! |
This. |
LOL |
No one really cares what you think NAVY mom/sub |
I do Nice to hear the inside informations. Many concern with so many exodus. |
Maybe the new principal doesn’t want so many transfers from within FCPS. He can do new hires over the summer too you know. |
But she’s currently not a classroom teacher and hasn’t been for years. Her loss won’t affect the teams. The resource teacher jobs are actually very sought after - lots of classroom teachers who want to get out of the classroom apply for them, but there’s only one position for each school. It will get filled easily. I don’t see why this is a big deal at all. Same with the ESOL position - yes the current ESOL teacher was a phenomenal classroom teacher but she chose to leave the classroom at the end of last year. I don’t blame her. The class was over 30 kids and had tons of behavior issues. The new principal wasn’t even there then. Did everyone blame her decision to leave the classroom on the interim principal? The teachers probably are leaving the classroom due to some of the crappy students and high class sizes. They are sick of the classroom and the demands placed on them. |
I haven’t heard anyone address this conundrum. The principal is so bad she has to leave…but her spouse stays? Could it be she wants a certain grade level that isn’t now available to her at Navy? |
He’s doing damage control. He’s trying to downplay the huge turnover. His email was trying to make it sound like a majority of the staff were leaving for personal reasons. While for a few that’s true, most of them left because of the incompetence of the current administration. There’s going to be another large turnover at Navy next year. Pin this post so I can say “Told you so.” |
DP. The last I’ve heard is that 26 new staff members were already hired, and that out of the new hires, only one is brand new to teaching. So you can spend your summer panicking, but I’m not going to. |
NP. And a teacher following this thread. 26 staff members means there’s a ton of instability at the school, and that’s not good for staff or students. It doesn’t remotely matter if the departing staff is classroom based or not. I’ve worked at a school that lost this many people, and the turnover came with some rocky years. I’m guessing morale is low, and new teachers will sense that. |
+1 |
Can you give a specific example of incompetence? And are you referring to the actual principal or one of the APs? |
My guess is there won’t be since he is hiring the 24 new members himself. They won’t have any expectation of what the job was like under the previous administration. |
