Yeah, something about it is... off. I think it’s the color itself? Tan is good for coats, but typically a monochromatic scheme is something like ivory or a really striking color. Tan just... blends into the surroundings or something.

Something that’s stuck with me is an unsupported statement: depressed people don’t actually wear black, they wear brown. Somehow plausible, and ever since, I really notice excessive brown, and I avoid it. I don’t remember where I read this, but I think it was an observation of a therapist. I’m not trying to say she’s depressed, just when doing monochrome it’s better to pick a *color*.

For someone working in the White House (assuming she's wearing this to work), and in November in DC, this is 100 percent correct. Maybe the heels are a little high, but we can let that go, the pants are hemmed long and it works.

Which reminds me, if she wears stuff like the prairie dress to cosplay in Wichita, why can't she cosplay in DC? Or did she finally figure out how, and put on this?

+1. I find Kate Middleton’s clothes to be sometimes meh and sometimes plain weird. There was a thread on another forum with pics of her in a lace, lingerie style dress. It was frumpy, ugly, and weirdly inappropriate at the same time.
