New Additions to Leagues Check Up (ECNL & GA)

Anonymous
That is not true … 4 additional teams (non champions cup clubs) per age groups get invited to play against the bottom 4 from the CA championship first round

That’s it

Predictions?

Michigan Hawks
Indy Premier
Cincinnati United

Are my guesses

I’m pretty sure for clubs with MLSN they are making girls join RL first and earn their way in. So my guess would be teams with current boys in ECNL or non MLSN already like STA (NJ) and Top Hat (GA).

Won’t be TH or STA. Possibly City SC or Indy Premier

Maybe Jags since they just added a Mi team - and it was a bad club so desperately trying to make up for a possible loss?

U14 - 9th place out of 12 teams

Why'd you leave out U13? Is it because they have a goal differential of +80? (And that's not exaggerated)

I'd also say this is more of a strategic move, in my view. The Stars are in the backyard of the Nationals (an ECNL club and former GA club), which continues to grow by taking over smaller clubs, who are then limited at best being in a MI-based RL league. This gives people on the north/east side of Metro Detroit a national competitive pathway that's not ECNL or RL and one that's stronger than USYS. I would expect those not happy with their choices within the Nationals ecosystem another opportunity and they could pick up a lot of talent as a result.

Both play MLSN for boys side. Maybe ECNL will make an exception and let them skip the line. But from what I was told is ECNL will only let GA clubs go RL for a year but will be invited to ECNL showcases. Then get in the following year.

Examples: lone star, Boca, SC Surf.
Also more teams announced over the next few weeks who also left GA for RL.

Boys also play MLSN.

Overall, it’s hard to argue that ECNL, as a whole, is better for exposure in girls soccer. But if you’re in GA and are on a team or in a club that regularly goes to finals or Champions Cup, you’re getting just as much exposure.

As far as exposure, top ECNL and GA clubs are very similar. After that, you’re better off on an average ECNL club than an average GA club.

I'll piggy back on a previous posters comments....NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT THE CHAMPIONS CUP!!

I'd prefer to to talk about the ECNL event in Kansas City OUTDOORS in the middle of winter. Such a good decision.

It was in Kansas City cause of the women's college cup. I believe it is going to Florida this year

The champions cup events are also showcases, and open to all teams who want to attend. The champions cup teams only play each other and the showcase teams play each other, but the games are all at the same place with all the same exposure.

geez the ignorance here.

cause U13's don't necessarily attend a lot of showcases etc and many of them have just joined a GA team or ECNL team and its there first year in the environment.

Then why include u19 since people are checked out? Seems suspect that one of their most successful teams was left out.

Both are solid clubs they could easily play ECNL

Yeah but all those teams that left GA and went to RL, already had their boys in ECNL.

Michigan Jaguars play MLSNext HG so they're not giving up that to play ECNL boys.

It really has to be a team that has their boys in ECNL already and is not getting accepted into MLSNext.

That’s why STA is a front runner in my mind. They have boys ECNL.
