Obama didn't want to provide lethal aid to a Putin stooge who could use it against the west. It isn't that complicated.

There’s an election coming up...isn’t that a more appropriate way to determine this nation’s leadership? But if you want 2020 to be all about Trump vs. Adam Schiff or Trump vs. unnamed CIA employees, don’t be surprised when Trump is re-elected.

okay, boomer

And also: sanctions. Obama always started with diplomacy.

By the way the previous most idiotic thing I had seen was the Clinton impeachment, which of course blew up in the faces of the GOP. At least in that case, your average citizen understands pretty well getting caught with an intern. This Ukraine stuff just does not have the same entertainment value.

I think the average citizen actually understands this pretty well. Maybe you don't? If I am holding a pen, and you ask for it, and I say "sure, but I need a favor from you," I think most people understand completely that I am holding onto that pen until you do me a favor.

Np- I don’t find undermining our foreign policy and selling out the American people entertaining. Why don’t you give patriotism a try.

Extortion and bribery are not as sexy as a blow job, but there is nothing idiotic about this impeachment. What is idiotic is trump and goonies thinking they could get away with bribery and exortion without anyone standing up for the constitution.

DP. What you are doing is not remaining skeptical. You are in full-on denial.

Enough has been made public. It's all laid out. You just don't want to admit it.

If this were Obama, you'd be screaming for impeachment.

Spot on!

And if this were Obama, Democrats would be doing exactly what the Republicans are doing right now: namely, that the impeachment effort is a sham, partisan, baseless, etc.

Such is the reality of politics today!

I tell you what, next time a Democratic president does the things that Trump has done, or a green party president, or an independent president, feel free to impeach them too. I’ll be right there with you

It blew up in their face so badly that they won the next two presidential elections, and had control of both houses of Congress for ten of the next twelve years.

Trump is this much of an idiot, and the people who did this bribery and extortion for Trump (and then tried to cover it up) are idiots for not noticing that most of the people Trump got to commit crimes for him have already gone to prison, pled guilty or been indicted for crimes. I mean, you Sondland and Barr have to be idiots to think they were going to not get caught.

Their star witnesses offered second and third hand testimony about alleged conversations and acknowledged that Trump had done more for Ukraine than Obama ever did.

And we had some clown actually saying that hearsay evidence was more reliable than direct evidence? How does someone like this jerk even get elected to Congress?

Actually, they have first and second hand accounts. You know who could give firsthand accounts? Mulvaney, Pompeo, Guiliani, Bolton etc. Unless or until any of those folks testify, the sworn information the House will have will stand as the record. You would think, if there was exculpatory evidence these potential witnesses can give, they would give it. If there were documents and emails/texts that contradicts the informtion gathered to date, you would think it would be provided.

Why hasn't it?

You cannot complain about "secondhand" information while also withholding evidence and ignoring subpoenas.

It is 100% true, proven, and admitted that the security assistance was held back for months by Mulvaney and that no explanation was given to Congress, DOD, or State.

It is 100% true, proven, and admitted that Giuliani and Sondland pressured Zelensky to make a public statement about investigating 2016 crackpot theories and the Bidens.

It is 100% true, proven, and admitted that a public commitment from Zelensky to investigate 2016 and the Bidens is not a U.S. foreign policy matter, but would help Trump and his 2020 campaign.

It is 100% true, proven, and admitted that there was a rush to have Zelensky make a public statement about 2016 and the Bidens by early September so that the security assistance could be released before the end of the fiscal year.

The only thing second-hand is that a bunch of experienced professionals with sterling reputations say that Mulvaney, Giuliani, and Sondland all have said that everything they did was at Trump's direction.

Impeachment is actually the precise mechanism created by the Founding Fathers to address what is happening here. It's not about changing the leadership. It's about addressing abuse of power, bribery and extortion by the President. It's about saying that we as a country do not stand for this. Trump has signaled to the world that he and his administration are open to bribery - do a little something that benefits him personally and he'll help their country out. This is not how the government of the United States is supposed to work. THAT's what this impeachment hearing is about.

I’m not arguing that the process is unconstitutional. I’m arguing that it is stupid, and probably working to the political benefit of Donald Trump.

What is the highest level of any politician who've gone to jail?

Agnew (VP) didn't.
Blagojevich (Gov of IL) did.
