Superintendent's Recommendation for Richard Montgomery ES #5 Boundaries

They even proposed splitting beall neighborhoods in their proposal to the board on November 2 and vocal opposition at the Nov. 8th meeting (you can watch the video from the meeting). The BoE should go with option 1 provided that is what the parents were calling for at the meeting on November 8. Check out their recommendation and email chain.

The Superintendent and BOE created this mess by putting out completely bogus data. Hungerford was not opposed to Twinbrook joining, but recognized that Twinbrook didn't want to be split up.

Exactly. My job is very data-oriented. If I put out charts based on bad calculations, I'd get fired. No doubt about it.

Only on an anonymous site but we would prefer to not be part of pyp.

I'm a CGES parent, but not in CG3.

I'm tempted to go Thursday just to watch it all.

After this release it’s sure to be a circus.

Exactly. What a bunch of BS. They were complaining when the FARMS rate was 29% and their school is in a low income neighborhood!!! Now we have RP in a upper middle class neighborhood getting a bunch of poor neighborhoods being busses to it and double the farms rate past 40%. How come that was an issue to not finalize it last time but now for RP, who cares if they get screwed again.

How are those families in TB supposed to get to their new schools all over the city? Jones Lanes Elementary School has massive problems with this. They do fundraisers to get parents free Uber's because they have FARMS families moved from their school from far away and now can't afford to get to the school otherwise.

+1

An entire year wasted with incorrect data and now a mad rush of massive changes and confusion. This is just terrible.

Ritchie Park has the worst principal in the cluster and now this. The parents have GOT to do something.

The only option that has any sort of community feel is the last one, where TB is kept the same. Are they still accepting community feedback? Where do I send them the feedback? I feel like that whole exercise we did months ago and the feedback we provided wasn't even considered. What a waste of time.

You can testify at the meeting Thursday night: call 301-279-3617 to sign up for a slot.
Email your opinions/views to the BoE at boe@mcpsmd.org

I just emailed the BOE. Those are some crazy boundary lines, especially that first one.

pp here who just emailed the boe.. so that was my first time emailing them, and I got one of those canned email responses. The first line shows:

"A strong partnership with the community is an essential aspect to the success of our public schools"

That made me snort. I feel like they haven't even listened to anything the community has said. And if they really think this, then I hope they don't break up communities with those two options that make people criss cross the cluster.

The sad part is that they are listening. Everyone is mad and no one wants to move so if someone (CG3) is mad then it’s only fair no one is happy.

+1 the map for Option 1 is just ridiculous for the outlying RP and TB neighborhoods. Those neighborhoods better bring an army to Thursday's meeting. I can't believe the Super submitted this nonsense with a straight face.

I don't get it. Isn't the proposal that CG3 move to Beall? What does that have to do with filling the new school?

CG3 reps have been arguing they shouldn’t move out of CGES.

Most (or all) of the proposals have CG3 moving so obviously their concerns are being ignored. How is that screwing everyone else over?

Not that poster, but CG3 was written out of 3 of the first 4 (original) proposals. CG3 got upset and lobbied for other options, which resulted in options 5-8. Then other groups got upset and now we have the craziness of the most recent 6 options.

Oh, and now CG3 looks to be out of CGES...
