Why did Kamala lose ?

She ran on a platform of protecting abortion and not being Trump, but there was no clear message of what her administration would bring to the table, so she was hitched to the unpopular Biden wagon. Obama had “Hope”, Trump has MAGA, but Kamala just couldn’t market herself well to a disgruntled public for a myriad of reasons.

Better speaker than Trump who on several occasions lost his train of thought and just stood there.

I also blame the media, the “liberal” media. They attacked Biden on his age in 2020 and 2024 and Trump is now the age Biden was in 2020. No attacks.

Blame them for being against the interests of most Americans. Biden is very powerful and is *not* worthy of sympathy for any imagined unfairness by the media or anyone else.

This was a backlash against the DNC and their lawfare and GET HIM attitude.

I kept telling you: you're making him a martyr.

Her campaign settled on “joy.”

I will say that I can see many many MANY people repelled by the celebritification of the party. I mean. I’d personally rather spend time with LeBron James than Scott Baio, but the gloss of the campaign did cut against it. I’m a Sherrod Brown (yes, I am devastated, that is a disgusting result too) to Bernie Sanders type in terms of my own deeply held convictions; both reject glamour, as do people like Rep. Zoe Lofgren, who I also admire pretty consistently. A lot of people are tired of flash in this arena. It’s not supposed to be a forking concert; I’ll go see a concert of my choosing. I want concise, brilliant policy positions at rallies that look like they were put together on a shoestring.

Democrat here. This was it for me. She’s not authentic at all, she didn’t stand for anything. Her entire campaign was a script, same answers for everything. And would get super nervous when she got any pushback from an interview. I can’t explain it, but she didn’t feel like a real person or someone I could relate with.

At least I could relate to grandpa Joe and him being a nice decent family man, who’s kids had issues, like your average American family.

Kamala’s entire existence just felt too…phony. It also didn’t help her bragging about aligning with the Cheney’s, of all people. What were they thinking?!

As if Trump is "authentic?" The guy has been a con man and a grifter his whole life.

I wish the post and your response could be pinned.

The problem is actually your response. If someone says they want a better candidate with better policies, your instinct to scream back that the other party (that PP is not a member of) is worse (when PP did not make a Trump-supportive comment).

Do you truly not see the problem with this kind of pattern of deflection? It’s very representative of how we pretend we maintain the big tent as Democratic voters.

You wanting a better candidate with better policies does not justify letting the worse candidate and worse policies win.

Also, it seems you want to reinforce the idea that any criticism that applies to Democrats does not apply to Republicans and they automatically get a pass no matter what.

You’re rephrasing the same non-argument - it will never work. It won’t pull a single vote. It’s a rotten strategy. If I am a lifelong born and raised Democratic voter, which I am, the circus of the GOP is not my concern. It’s not my universe. I’m not giving anyone a “pass” - and the accusation that I am is a lie. It is amazing to me that you cling to this. There’s nothing anyone can say obviously.

Explain to us like we're five how exactly it's a non-argument to say that you let worse candidate from party B win because you didn't find the candidate from party A to be perfect.

This is like the Muslims in Dearborn voting outright for Trump because of Gaza - despite the fact that Trump has said he would give Netanyahu the green light to do whatever he wants. How is that a win for Gaza, or Dearborn Muslims? What exactly did you accomplish? Oh, maybe in 4 years you might have a marginally better candidate (at the cost of more Gazans getting killed) - and that candidate might still lose anyhow? Great job. Brilliant.

Posters explained it multiple times and you just refuse to get it. Muslims in Dearborn don't think Trump will be better than Harris. They despise both equally. But Trump doesn't court them and doesn't promise them anything; he doesn't pretend to be "livid" with Netanyahu or try on the mask of a great humanitarian. The Arab groups I know wanted, above all, to hurt the Democrats and show them that losing the Muslim vote can mean a loss for them.

Worse than that. As a moderate Democrat Harris voter who has posted here for months trying to get people to wake up because she was going to lose, my posts were regularly deleted because people reported them. The determination to remain sealed in the bubble was very strong.

It’s frustrating to me, but at some level I feel like throwing up my hands and saying that if you don’t want to listen, it’s on you.

This. The lawfare and millions of dollars of tax payers money on frivolous law suits. The mug shot.

“Threats to democracy” was a leading issue in exit polls. Those votes went to Trump! Turns out the polls were misinterpreting the meaning of those words.

Actually it wasn't this so much as thinking asylum seekers in NY and LA are being handed billions in tax dollars while regular citizens are given nothing.
.

That’s what I’m saying. The focus is not on doing better for themselves, but on keeping score how much the others got from the Government.

Like an uneducated Trump supporter who works a low paying job at a chicken factory is mostly concerned with Pedro next door getting a Government handout, not with his own life. He is Christian so he is automatically better than everyone else.

And it’s not just Arabs in MI that feel this way, many young and economically disadvantaged voters have seen years of the Democrats’ deceit. But the Democrats insularity and self-congratulation made it impossible for them to engage these voters.

So you're saying that multiple jurisdictions in different states, both at the federal and state level, with different jurors, DA/prosecutors, different judges . . . . all conspired against him in the Courts? I mean, that's what you're saying.

There is only one common denominator in all those proceedings.

Your post also betrays a fundamental misunderstanding of our court system. But ignorance like that should hardly be surprising at this point.

DCUM used to pillory me during the first Trump administration for saying Trump was only going to be defeated by better politics. I’m more sure than ever that that was correct.

Scorched earth. You get the blame for everything. Don't even dare try to dodge or deflect or change the subject.

And also credit for everything that goes right? Your terms are acceptable.

Unless you are a millionaire banking on those tax credits, nothing will go right. whomp whomp.

I am the poster who got that snide response and yes, I agree.

The party cannot blame Muslims for this.
A shame on them if they try.

The single most effective ad in the entire campaign was “Kamala is for they/them. Donald Trump is for YOU”.

Polling reveals that 85% of all Americans don’t want men in women’s sports and locker rooms.

Dems need to drop this issue or they will continue to lose.
