I have to believe that the posters who are still adamant that Biden needs to keep running are either:

1. Republicans or foreign agents supporting Trump.

or

2. Biden's inner circle who unaccountably posts here.

Because no one else in their right mind thinks a confused, stumbling and memory-impaired oldie is the best person to confront Trump (himself memory-impaired and confused, but also vindictive and punitive).

This is so easy: Harris is the consensus candidate, she's young, energetic and articulate. She's also a woman with mixed ethnic roots.

I mean, she's the ideal candidate!

Were it not for misogyny and racism... sigh.

Really? If you go to Reddit, where you get a much better sense of poster’s views, it seems to be mainstream dems who want him to stay in the race. They are also really concerned about potential challenges to ballot changes in red states with Trump judges.

Those who want him to drop are idealized leftists who haven’t been burned in an election.

Republicans don’t appt there; harder to fake views because you can see their comment history.

No, we're realists! And certainly not extreme left.

AOC and Sanders are supporting Biden because they think they can squeeze concesssions out of him during his second term, or failing that, they think they'll do great as opposition leaders if Trump is President. What they fear most is a center-left Democrat winning the White House and stifling the progressive Left once again.

I seriously cannot understand how you're not seeing that Biden has ZERO chance of winning right now. Harris has a non-nil chance. We have to take it. It's our only hope.

Supporting Biden at this stage mean you're fine with a Trump presidency.

So yes, pardon me, but any "Biden supporter" is either a secret Trump supporter or a delusional moron.

They call themselves leftist on Reddit; I am using their own term to describe them. I say idealized because in my experience, they are typically young and weren’t around for 2000 or 2016.

Just checked out reddit. Its overwhelmingly “time to go, Joe” today.

Its not just a “leftist” faction

There is no clean ending here. Biden's debate performance and subsequent gaffes - introducing the President of Ukraine as Putin; forgetting the SecDef's name and referring to him as "the black man,"

Are we sure he forgot? He may have just been highlighting how he hired blacks.
A few days before he said,"You know what a black job is? Vice President"

Lots of people on here said it was racist of Trump to use such language.

What a selfish decision by Joe & Co. He has a 30% approval rating, and blue states are now in play!

And, yes, I’m a Black woman who wants to vote for someone under 60, FFS! 70, even! I’m so tired of hearing that Black people want Joe. No one asked me.

I’ll never forgive Joe for this selfish BS.

Why shouldn't Trump do this. He's just as old and delusional and really likes to golf and winter in Florida! He's the ideal retirement candidate.

Stop whatabouting. Just stop.
Trump is no spring chicken but Biden has crossed that line from old to “too old”. He seems feeble and weak. He seems confused.

Trump surviving the assasination attempt has catapulted him to look “strong”. Biden cant compete with that. He can barely walk up steps.

I hate trump with every fiber of my being but Biden has to acknowledge he is winning zero independents with this perception and losing dems who are not enthusiastic and will stay home. NJ is in play for Gods sake. NJ!!

Did you watch Trump's speech last night? He sounded not only old, but stupid and insane, as always. Biden had a bad debate. Fine. He's still mentally sharper than Trump. And regardless, despite what a couple of people on this thread think, no one wants President Harris.

Trump is old and much slower than he was. Heck, the Republicans even highlighted Trump's decline by showing the famous Oprah interview Trump gave decades ago about running for president.

But the idea that Biden is "mentally sharper than Trump" is so delusional as to make me worry you're off your meds. Even the media is finally fessing up to Biden's decomposition. Trump ain't great (compare with JD Vance's ability to speak), but he's miles better than Joe.

I agree. Democrats can do nothing about the fact that conservatism is unable to surgically remove its Trump parasite. The GOP is now a MAGA zombie. All the never Trumpers have fled the party.

But Democrats can do BETTER than the GOP, and surgically remove Biden. He's a nice guy, unlike Trump, but he's even more physically impaired, which is saying something!

Harris 2024. We can do it.

How?
When black Americans come out to vote in large percentages, they decide the election, because they swing the big cities in red states further blue.

All of them

People are simply observing the obvious. Biden does not have the faculties to be President. People get old. It happens. And Americans have observed and moved on.

The quicker the Democratic establishment accepts reality - Biden shouldn't be in the White House; they are looking at catastrophic losses in November - the quicker Democrats can move on and settle on a winning ticket. Harris and a good VP pick can still win against Trump.

It needs to happen faster though. So far today, it's 32 House members and 3 senators who have publicly asked Biden to drop out. It needs to go quicker. Biden needs to be out by Monday. This cannot be allowed to drag on for another month.

Get a hold of yourself.

Black women (in general, not every single one) have been very vocal on social media about supporting Joe for pragmatic reasons, but also because they sense that this push was also about ousting Harris and that would be utter BS and actually undemocratic. It would have the appearance of cutting out the voter from the process entirely, if you remove both people on the ticket who 14 million people voted for (not our faults nobody really had the cojones to challenge Joe before we voted).

Harris 2024. We can do it.

How?

Simple. Biden makes a nice speech this weekend or next week, anointing Harris as his replacement on the ticket. Harris makes an even better speech, where we can actually hear every word and it makes sense, without any "c'mon", "folks", "not a joke" or "here's the deal".

The Biden/Harris campaign war chest turns over to Harris, since her name was on the accounts as VP anyway. Some repub lawyers threaten lawsuits, it leads to nothing. The DNC can always get the money back from the campaign and funnel it to a new ad-hoc Harris campaign if there is a lawsuit. Money leads to an ads blitz, and merch, and grass-roots local campaign efforts everywhere and especially in the swing states. Momentum builds for Harris and her VP. People are EXCITED to vote for a normal, sane person with all her marbles! First woman President, and she's an African-Indian no less!!!

We win the election, and reenergize down ballot campaigns. Blue sweeps everything. AOC and Sanders find they backed the wrong horse and get relegated to the back of the class.

We picked Biden.

And you must accept the consequences of that decision, including losses down ballot. Republicans threw their lot in with Trump well before the recent law fare failures and assassination attempt. It was a somewhat risky bet, but they laid the groundwork for it during the NY trial (i.e. that it was politically motivated). That bet has paid off so far, but Democrats aren't necessarily out of the running down ballot. They could flip the House, which would blunt significantly anything that Trump does from a budget perspective, and leverage the same power it did under Pelosi through Jeffries. The Senate map doesn't look good, so Trump will get his judges.

For your family’s sake, seriously, step back from the right wing propaganda. I’m sure you think you sound measured and sensible. You do not.

This isn't right wing propaganda. Schumer, Pelosi & Jeffries are trying to save the House and Senate, as are most Democrats. The Republicans picked a highly-flawed candidate in Trump when they had plenty of other choices. Good news is breaking strongly in favor of Trump right now, while bad news is hurting Biden and Democrats. This is similar to the disarray Republicans suffered from when trying to pick a speaker (15 rounds to get McCarthy, only to fire him), then MTG playing games, etc.

Sorry that you feel disenfranchised and will not vote for anyone besides Harris.

I would prefer at least a semblance of looking at options (since everyone but you remembers that she came in last in the last primary) - but if it has to be Harris, then it will have to be Harris.
