Yes, yes, yes, none found at the time. They didn’t have a leg to stand on. Many of you are VERY naïve as to what can be done to an adult prior to a crime being found out about. This entire thread is full of misinformation and a total lack of understanding of how these things work. |
I have worked in both local and network news. Salacious sells, heartwarming not so much. And yes, stories do get suppressed. People to you what to cover and you do it. Not too many choices made at the lower level. |
That’s true, but we don’t know where or when it happened. Not to make light of it, because I’m not, but these pictures could have been taken at any time and anyplace in the world. That’s why it’s good that possessing and passing them is also a felony because the perpetrators of those despicable acts could have been caught long ago or be dead. |
| Now I’m fascinated by Richmond. Tell me more. |
I agree with this. I really think this is something that really should not be in the public news. You do not want kids stumbling upon it and you don't want other perpetrators to get off on it or God-forbid--create new perpetrators by giving people a window into this world. It's really something that should be prosecuted out of the public eye. Thank goodness there are people who work jobs that involve exposure to this very, very dark side of humanity. The rest of us should probalby be shielded from it. |
I mean yes, ok. But do you know how many crimes happen to kids every day? There were not one but two brutal executions of parents right in front of their kids in DC this year. Barely any coverage. Not even an arrest for one of them. Ask yourself why THIS crime in particular deserves more coverage to you? |
Nobody is covering this up at WaPo or CNN. The bottom feeders that profit of this kind of crime (Daily Mail, NY Post) will cover it. |
I didn’t say this crime deserves more coverage. I was just stating that yes actual kids were harmed in this case since you stated that they were not. |
If reputable news sources like WAPO and CNN don't report this kind of crime, how would people learn about it? You are indicating that reporting it to the public is only for "bottom feeders." |
Why denver or Portland? |
A) no one said this crime deserves more coverage than other crimes B) I am well aware horrific crimes hapoen to kids every day since I work with kids and unfortunately have seen way too much of this first hand C) if the mainstream media doesn’t report about crimes how will the general public know about them? all crimes deserve news coverage. |
| Maybe the press is afraid of getting sued by the family? |
If anyone seriously doubts the media “looks the other way” or ignores certain crimes by connected, powerful, and rich people, then you haven’t been paying attention. NPR and others have documented this phenomenon; recently in how the media utterly failed to investigate Jeffry Epstein after his FIRST conviction (you knew he got off easy the first time, right?) https://www.npr.org/2019/08/22/753390385/a-dead-cat-a-lawyers-call-and-a-5-figure-donation-how-media-fell-short-on-epstei https://www.npr.org/2019/08/22/753390385/a-dead-cat-a-lawyers-call-and-a-5-figure-donation-how-media-fell-short-on-epstei |
| I couldn’t bring myself to read the charging documents but just the news article has me re-thinking some things like sleepovers, etc. It’s so incredibly disturbing. I think this story has to get out so that parents of kids who may have crossed her path are aware. Don’t they usually put some sort of contact information out there for other potential victims? I live in Virginia and never would have heard about it other than this thread. |
why do you need to learn about this kind of crime though? it’s not news. it’s news in Richmond and that’s it. |
