A Southern elite with $650k+ in private education and she's only a pre-K "teacher" at age 34? Anyone in education knows pre-K isn't actually a teacher and you certainly don't need $650k in credentials to do it. Something very odd about all of this, especially how a gal like this even lets a man like him orbit her.

Whether she's a preK or kindergarten teacher (I've heard both), i cannot believe you made such a critical condescending comment. We should be glad to have and encourage well-educated teachers at all grade levels. If she doesn't need a high-paying job, what's it to you? Many people love teaching young children.

She presumably didn’t meet her husband until her late 20s and didn’t have children until around age 30. So she’s been a pre-K teacher for 10 years (since age 23 or 24 after getting her master’s in Nashville), well before marriage and kids came into the picture, and hasn’t advanced? It’s a bit strange.

hardly. princess diana was a preschool teacher aide before marrying. definitely one of the paths of young women w/established family money who are basically waiting to get married.

You proved my point. Diana was a teenage pre-k teacher. Diana married at year 20. This year 34 gal has elite diploma, bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and she’s doing a job she’s overqualified for.

Maybe she likes the job? If she was happy why did she have to chase the paycheck?

Sure. Or maybe there’s some there there. All of the pre-k teachers I know are fresh out of undergrad and do it for a year or two.

This is ridiculous. Every teacher at my DC’s pre-K was over 40 YO. They were wonderful, experienced teacher who loved the children. *IF* this woman had a trust fund (and we don’t know that she did), it allowed her to live a nice life while doing something she loved and *gasp* not marrying a rich striver. The amount of judgment here is appalling, and these attitudes by Washington “progressives” is what fuels the Trump fire.

I think everything about this suggests the husband isn’t involved.

That said, the marriage—>now pictures of husband & wife are disturbing weight loss-wise and the language of their social media is all self-help/rehab speak… I would be shocked if they didn’t both have substantial addiction issues.

Noble job, absolutely. Often a part-time job. Often a short-term job. It certainly doesn’t require a master’s degree unless you plan to advance and she hasn’t advanced in a decade? And this isn’t in a vacuum. In the context of her choice of spouse, how they met, their bizarre social media posts about their volatile marriage, her exaggerated smile, his dramatic change in appearance after they married. And people acting like she was forced to jog so early in a crime-ridden town because of her demanding teaching job. Please spare me.

Why are you so thick? You have some need for this to be far more complicated than it is. She was out running early to get her miles in. People have tried to explain she is not a jogger. She runs marathons. It is very different. Long runs are necessary.

Nobody of sound mind thinks it’s normal for a solo woman to run around Memphis at 4am. The husband is a pure loser if nothing else. Memphis is full of feral junkies, ex cons and hundreds of killers who roam free because the town solves so few of their hundreds of homicides each year.

I’ve never thought DCUM was uglier than today. Time for a break for sure. Some of you people are honestly horrible. Thank you for the few of you who called the heartless vultures out on their disgusting behavior.

Agreed. I am normally able to tolerate the nastiness and judgment here, but this is something else.

Agree. I’m taking a break from this board. The toxicity here is appalling.

Was he her drug dealer? Or the drug dealer for the DH?

Because is he is an ex-Con who got released after 20 years in prison, how come he is riding a Black SUV?

How did he know where to wait for her?
from an article: “ The security video, according to the affidavit, showed the black GMC Terrain initially driving by Fletcher as she jogged and then stopping in a parking lot ahead of her and waiting for her to come by.”

A rich woman being a private preschool teacher is one of the oldest old money professions. Princess Diana was a preschool teacher! Lower-wage jobs that put you in contact with higher-status people are the bread and butter of the trust fund set. Private school teacher, working in the art world in a gallery/museum, non-profit work, the publishing industry for books or magazines, the fashion industry, all are populated by the inherited wealth set.

My kids had two pre-K teachers each and one of them were fresh out of college. Maybe you sent your kids to a cheap ass church pre-K, but real preschools hire experienced teachers.

Within Tennessee, more than 100% of the communities have a lower crime rate than Memphis. In fact, after researching dangerous places to live, NeighborhoodScout found Memphis to be one of the top 100 most dangerous cities in the U.S.A.

It wasn’t in his name. And it’s just a cheap old crossover. Probably worth $5,000.

If the billionaire in-laws thought he was worth a damn he wouldn’t be wasting his working prime at boat dealership. They’d groom him for corporate life, like the Woody Allen movie Match Point.

What are you talking about? The granddaughter was not involved in the business. So why would her husband be given a job? You have to stop watching so much tv. It’s a hardware business that is family owned. The business had 3 billion in revenues. Operating margin at Home Depot are 15%. The grandfather co-ran the business with other people. This means there are other family members, the business is not liquid and the grandfather is not a billionaire. He may be worth a few million. She is not an heiress.

I’m just bumping this smart post about the money angle.

It’s actually pretty inaccurate. If someone has 50% of a business w/ those revs and the small amount of debt it has, they are not worth just a few million unless they have been giving away millions annually and not investing anything.
