K, crazy…no one is saying his behavior was okay. He’s clearly a very troubled person. But, she walked in on him behaving like this, turned on her camera…and started asking leading questions to piss him off more. Any emotionally healthy adult would have got the hell out of there.

She asked him what happened, omg!? Clearly he ought to break something else, it was such an abusive question!

Did we ever find out what actually had happened btw? I missed it. I don't know why he was behaving that way. He also seemed to be blaming it on her.

I totally understand the desire to record when something crazy is happening to you. I get it.

Thank you. The rabid defense of Depp by some of his totally stable female fans here is something, isn’t it?

I don’t see how you can see her as any less crazy and culpable as he is. I am not so much defending him as pointing out that she is also a pretty messed up person. SHE PURPOSELY DEFECATED ON HIS SIDE OF THE BED and moved the sheets so he would lie in it. This is crazy, abusive behavior. Plus, did you not hear the tape where she tells him no one will believe him if he tells?

They are both horrible. Stop trying to pretend she is normal herself.

Yeah, but it's a defamation case, not a "who do we hate most" reality show, and he's the one that brought it... apparently over an op-ed that's weak tea at most. They are both seriously disturbed - but that exactly why this trial is a huge waste of everyone's time.

Exactly. I think they're both trash, but Depp's the one abusing thr legal systemntontry to get back at his ex years and years after the divorce in an incredibly weak case. So in this situation I'm anti-Depp here.

That's totally normal.

Also for your partner to write degrading messages to you in blood all over the house you're staying in together. That also sounds totally normal.

I can understand not liking her. There is a more loving and loyal path to take here as the spouse I guess. But I also don't think you necessarily owe loyalty and love to a an addicted person who can't control their behavior around you and is petulant to you all the time. Like, when he apologized to her by text for something terrible he did and she didn't immediately forgive him, his immediate response was "well I see forgiveness and understanding are off the menu." or something like that. He is such a petulant child expecting everything to be easy for him even though his behavior is appalling.

It is abuse to write degrading comments about your partner on the walls. THE END. That's abusive.

You are correct in that these behaviors are not “normal” or that if a healthy relationship. Far from it truthfully. Did he party like a Hollywood rockstar and live like a pirate in real life? Yes. Doesn’t mean he layered a hand in her. Every text every message every call every video, there is no proof or words of him hitting her or even admitting to it. Was he verbally abusive, yes. Physically? No. And that’s what is on trial. Physical abuse.
Every time they fought and it past the point of return he would lock himself in a room. Several rooms. He has some deep mental problems from the abuse he endured as a kid but he has not laid a hand on her from what I have seen of the trial.

He has always lived the pirate lifestyle and has never lost a job until Amber accused him of physical abuse. This is what I’d at stake. His reputation and his work. It might be a waste of time for you but not for him
Or for his kids reputations.

This.

She’s the one who seemingly inserted cray-cray nonsense into the equation…and it seems like it was done strategically for a payout.

Remember: he’s dated a lot and his ex vouched for him. He was not the violent person Amber claims he is.

Sometimes crazy women provoke responses…particularly when on a mission. The fact that she taped everything is very telling.

Exactly. In ALL of his relationships, not ONE girlfriend has ever accused him of physical abuse. Even with all of her taping, she never recorded him hitting her. Ever. In fact the opposite. He recorded her hitting him and she admitted it!
Anonymous
Pp here. Sorry meant to say he recorded her admitting to hitting him not the actual video of her hitting him. She admits though.

A lot of his defenders are male. Many on Reddit.

He’s suing her over the op-ed. That’s why the case is here. And it’s really just implied, its never outright stated and the reader has to draw their own conclusions. The whole “man is the like the Titanic” paragraph that he is really upset over could apply to most any powerful man in Hollywood. She makes sure to refer to pre-college incidents that clearly are not Depp. The whole “Two years ago I was involved in domestic violence” part is the only thing that completely ties to Depp. I’m not that familiar with the standards of defamation in Virginia but I’m sure her lawyers are well-versed. And if they can show (as they clearly are laying the grounds for) that his career was in decline (due to his unreliability because of his addictions) anyway, I’m just not sure how it was op-ed that was to blame for his current situation and not his own issues.

DP. Did her op Ed say that he physical abused her or just that he abused her? Also no way he can be blitzed out of his mind for so long and definitively know if he hit her ever.

I just tuned into this trial. I find it all so sad. I feel sorry for them. The curtain on celebritydom has been pulled back and it's sad and pathetic. I know not all celebrities are like this but what a life.
They both obviously have addiction problems and being married to her only allowed each of them to enable the other. They were so bad for each other. What a mess.

He’s responsible for his behavior, not her. He’s the one who reacted and/or engaged in abusive ways that align with what Heard described in her op Ed. Is the messenger what bothers you or the message? If only she hadn’t wrote about her experience, darn it. 🙄

It is very sad for them both to be airing their dirty laundry in public and it is a waste of the judicial system and jurors’ time.

However, Depp brought the case not Amber. He was twice her age when they met. He has consumed so much alcohol and drugs that there is no way that he can accurately account for all his behaviors when under the influence. He should have known better than to bully through the case and pontificate incoherently.

Depp had other ways to clear his name that would have been less destructive for them both - writing his own op Ed or getting a Mediator to settle with a public statement that they both behaved badly in the relationship but that neither consent to being labeled as domestic abusers.

I hope they both acknowledge they played their part in this toxic relationship, learn from it and move on without bitterness.

All concerned posters should youtube Tom Petty's Into the Great Wide Open....Scary

That being said....Amber appears to be an Instigator, Provoker, Manipulater, Melodramatic Drama Queen, using others as pawns in Her Great Play. Johnny could have just let it go, but cares about being painted as a garbage person. I don't blame him.

However, Johnny should get help for his substance and mental health issues.

Also, I regard Wasington Post as a rag paper, much like the NYT, shells of former great news oulets. Puke.
