Bridgerton, Season 2

Something that I think is really interesting about the British monarchy but doesn't come across in Bridgerton is just how German the royals all were.

George III was the first Hanoverian to actually be born in Britain. His father, George II, was an adult when his father was given the British throne. His wife Charlotte was German. His eldest son married a German Princess (and his only legitimate daughter died in childbirth) and his Granddaughter who ended up on the throne married Albert, of course.

Charlotte was a mulatto, with Portuguese/African ancestry.

Also, most Britts are a mix -- native Briton, Viking, Saxon, Roman. DH is a Brit and did a DNA test. Results indicate he is a mix of all of those.

The current monarchy has its roots in Germany, but prior to that they were all over -- French, Dutch, etc.

The Kings of England were also at some point kings of France.

They have a ton of incestuous relationships. It's just one big family.

He's good, and hot.. so.. hot.

+1

How tall is he?

How tall was Kate? She seems taller than Anthony so the later kissing scenes, seemed more like a smash up. Not tender, not frantic, not passionate somehow…

How old are you people where the woman being slightly taller than the guy is still a dealbreaker?

Old enough to notice she seemed a be foot taller than the three women she walked around with and didn’t know he was so short. Well did know because of his short arms and versus her long arms and height. She’s a great fashion model too.

This has been debunked.

Yup. And they were all heavy and ugly until Albert prettied up the bloodlines a bit.

The “diamond” is total fiction and comes across super silly in the show. Yes there would be favorites among the debutantes but the queen definitely didn’t show such an interest in any one person or refer to them as such, and the way they make it a must that she name a “diamond” is annoying.

Prudence (best one in the show)
Eloise bridgerton
Lord featherington (penniless cousin prudence wants to marry)
Mr brooks (cake eating jeweler)

Horrible acting:
Delacroix (Seamstress)
Sheffield mom (edwina’s grandma)
Edwina except in the one scene where she had just learned of the scheme and was hoping to still marry Anthony

Mr Brooks (cake eating jeweler) is the grunting, drinking, and sleeping Mr Hurst from 1995 P&P

Is every season going to end exactly how we want it to? If there are 9 books, are there going to be 9 seasons? Will Benedict have the next? I do not like Anthony, he's a jerk for proposing to Edwina and leading her on. Does he have autism? He was not good at making eye contact.

You don't like him because you think he might have autism???!

Not pp, but I think she said she didn't like him because he was a jerk for leaving in Edwina.

My question is whether every book basically has the same plot? Duke won't have kids because of problems with his father and his death bed vow. Anthony won't have a love marriage because of problems created when his father died. But then they do.

Are you at all familiar with the romance genre?

It's even worse in the books. They are both forced to marry after being caught in a compromising position, they talk out their parent issues and are basically cured in a single conversation.

This is a fictional show folks, based on a romance novel, not actual history.
