How difficult is it for a Maryland resident to get into UMCP these days?

Would like to know about grades and scores needed. Also any insights into getting into the Honors or College Park Scholars program?

I don't have personal experience but I've had the same question and found this.

I know the median incoming SAT/ACT is higher than UNC and UCLA and is the 3rd highest in the Big Ten behind only Northwestern and Michigan.

Mostly based on incoming test scores and alumni impact.

Yes , I noticed UMD incoming scores have been going really high. I'm sure 2016 incoming will be through the roof. The Big Ten move seems to have put UMD on a rocket ship and since Md has the richest and most educated population in the country it bodes well for UMD going foreward.

It really depends on what you want to major in.

Some of the STEM majors have become more difficult to get in especially the Honors and Scholars program ones. One of the reasons is that there are many competitive high schools and magnet high schools in the region.

Most kids from these schools and programs, will apply to them and these kids are extremely strong candidates. I think a good strategy would be to apply as early as you can, since most of these kids do that.
