Hayfield Football Coach Fired

Anonymous
Maybe the VHSL just needs to step in and ban their boys basketball program as well. Maybe step in and ban the track program in the spring. If the principal won’t step up and be honest, then they deserve whatever comes their way.

The rosters are required to be public posted on the school's ahtletic website before the first game of the season.

Hayfield is out of compliance. They have not posted their rosters for any of the three teams.

Initials: V.O., T.W., C.P. all transferred specifically for football. There may be more, those three just jumped out at me. Three spots on a Varsity roster is a LOT when a team is usually only 12 players.

I am surprised the BB coach would take this risk to the post season. He must think he has some kind of cover, or will just feign ignorance of the situation.

The real fix for this is for Gatehouse to start sending tuition bills to anyone still living outside FFx.

That's incredibly unfair to the real Hayfield students. Just ban the recruited/transfer players from school sports.

If he's smart, he got assurance from VHSL in writing that all these recruited players are OK to play basketball. (I don't understand why that would be allowed by VHSL.)

The basketball coach is an intelligent guy. He wouldn’t risk his season by playing any kid that wasn’t legit and is currently being investigated for not being legit.

He has at least three illegitimate transfers on his roster.
Not smart.

If yall are upset at football, wait till you find out about how basketball operates. Not just this area but the entire region from Richmond to Baltimore. Football is lightwork compared to basketball. At some schools having your best player transfer to the better program after their freshman or soph year is expected. AAU and private training runs crazy.

There are transfers and kids called out by vhsl as not coming from hayfield feeders as freshman to play football on all three rosters-taking opportunities away from in zone Hayfield students.

This is the official FCPS transfer policy as it relates to sports:

"Conditions of a Student Transfer
If a student transfer application is approved, the following conditions apply:

The student may not be eligible to participate for one year in secondary school interscholastic athletics. To learn more about eligibility, visit Virginia High School League."

If he dropped all the talent collection he would be able to prove it to everyone. Currently all anyone sees is an all star team put together from youth football. Hayfield was a great opportunity for him because they do have some talent there. If he would have been patient and worked with what was in the building he could have built a consistent Region title contender and if the stars align a state championship. He had no willingness to try that path.

Yeah, you're wrong. He's never proven he can coach. His offensive play calling is pedestrian at best. Also, no one sees an all-star team put together from youth football. They see a collection of illegally recruited players, many of whom he'd never coached before, brought to Hayfield, in many cases possibly so by violating the law. Your last sentence is right though, so there is that. Sweet comment man.

You can’t believe what you just typed can you. How can a person with “pedestrian” as you call it playcallling avg over 45 a game. Then you say they are first year players from wherever that he’s brought in, so again he can do this with KIDS that’s he’s nvr coached before being them all together, put in whatever calls he’s going to use and be able to get the production he’s gotten. Make it make sense. Your football accumen is clearly lacking so please just stop. You must of been one of the coaches that’s been beaten by over 40, lol

This was barely English so I don't know how to respond except for to your last sentence which was almost English: I haven't coached in years as I have a real job but when I did coach it was at a program far stronger than a VA public school.

But they at least actually transfer right? And it's not the entire team moving.

You’re wasting your time responding to posters that have no knowledge of sports. They believe a good coach can take a team with no talent and compete for a state championship. In reality, any good coach who has ambitions of being recognized for his/her coaching ability won’t take a job where there is no talent, unless that’s the only job they can get, and even then they won’t stay their long.

Bob Milloy seemed to be able to do it at a couple of stops (and no, I am not talking about OLGC). But hey, let's not let facts get in the way of your ignorant rants.
