Setting up the framework for women who are out of work to connect with mentors would be actually helpful. Asking your famous friends to give 40 minutes to some woman they are supposed to find somewhere is performative and not actually useful. |
What is 40 minutes with a celebrity going to do for the Average Jane? |
This. Even worse: the celebs get free PR…and that is what’s driving this. |
Yes, it’s like a circle jerk of free PR. Gross. |
+1. Also, what are the qualifications of these celebrities? Just being rich and famous doesn’t qualify you to mentor others. |
Not just a grain - it’s best to take all these rumors with a gallon of salt. Vast majority of them are untrue. Agree with your last sentence. Harry comes off as incredibly thoughtful in his spoken interviews (and his written statements). Meghan has a long history of humanitarian work so none of this is new. |
I think people are also missing that Meghan’s been doing a lot of charity work with women’s employment, so this new initiative isn’t just lip service.
Also, for the people moaning about how this is just PR… how is that different from ANYTHING the other royals do? |
The other royals don't make charity work a celebration of THEIR birthday?.. |
I don't see how that would possibly make a difference. And are you absolutely positive that no other royals have done charity work on their birthday? Seems like the kind of thing that would be right up their alley. |
Announcing that you’ve asked other celebrities to do volunteer work for your birthday isn’t doing charity work. It is an attention grab for all of them. |
Are you being deliberately obtuse? What other member of the BRF has highlighted their work as a celebration of their birthday? |
You can't win when it comes to Meghan... the haters will literally find any excuse, any small nit to pick. |
Alright so for all the disgruntled haters on here, I expect the same exact energy for Obama:
https://www.obama.org/60-for-60/ Please, go on about how horrible he is. |
She is toxic. And getting worse and worse. |
