I'm aware that there are a few 07s in Spirit's DA and one is playing 2-3 age groups up, just hadn't heard that they have 08s in their DA. I didn't think that was the case. Girls playing up at older age groups (e.g. U15s playing U18/19) doesn't surprise me based on when girls develop physically. |
Considering BRYC has both its boys and girls in ECNL, I dont see a merger taking place there. |
What people are saying has nothing to do with it being Spirit or not, we would all say the same thing if FCV, McLean or any other club looked like that or had such a similar showing. It's either the players or the coaching or both. You can't tell me only Spirit VA is concerned with development. |
Way off topic here, but that’s usual for the vitriol a select few here have over Spirit. That said, what you address below has been covered in EVERY Spirit thread here. The club is essentially new, there had been no player development pipeline, like the other clubs you mention. This means a few things. First, the talent level is uneven, because it’s dependent on who is interested in the new club and how coaches can assess those players, over a few ID sessions vs years of development time (the FCVs, McLeans, etc). That doesn’t mean that every player at Spirit is less talented than the established clubs, in fact quite a few there have more talent. However, many others are below the average level of the established competitors. No one has denied that challenge. Second, it’s pretty well established that Spirit plays up a few very talented players. That topic itself was a huge magnet for an anti-Spirit sock puppet, outed by the admin, who finds a home on this forum. While playing up helps that specific player develop, it may come at the expense of the result. No one is paying $7k in “fees.” Not everyone’s experiences or value in a club is defined by the number of wins the team has. Finally, since this has all been discussed as nauseum, continuing to do so is just piling on to bash the club. No one has said “overall talent at Spirit is better than anywhere else” or “Spirit has the most wins of any elite club.” It’s clear from the discussion of the real topic of this thread that a large number of Spirit parents value the program, coaching, and experience. People who don’t are free to pump their favorite club in other threads. Why the need to bash a club that may not even continue operations next year, especially when parents who have experience with the product see more than enough value to want it to continue? |
| No one has any idea how many people are participating in this thread. It's an anonymous forum. You can't say large numbers are for or against. It could be that 5 people or less have created all 36 pages. |
LOL I was thinking same thing.
|
My sentiments exactly. Based on past history, it's very likely that the anti-Spirit posts are by the proven sock puppet on this forum, as they were in the past. |
Or a pro-Spirit sock puppet more likely |
Ahhh, yes, where would we be without our beloved Sock Puppet guy. The guy who thinks that any post that express the same sentiment must always be the same person. |
The thread would sure be more boring without him! I also agree there is one anti-WS person on the board based on patterns and language and the fact they were exposed previously. Same person that hates Loudoun too. The agenda is pretty obvious... |
Wow, Spirit hyperman is starting to talk to himself. Must be tough for him right now. |
I'd never try and pin any number of posts on just a single poster. There are a few camps with a few agendas. I think some have no more of an agenda than stirring the pot once in a while and others are more persistent. It is always best to take each post individually. I don't even understand the idea of a "Pro-Spirit sock puppet". There are many families invested in Spirit and as such of course they want Spirit to succeed. Why that sentiment of being Pro whatever your kid is in can be seen as scandalous. If your kid is in FCV your agenda is pro FCV, same with Arlington, BRYC McLean and so on. I mean, duh... |
You mean someone who wants the club their kid in to succeed is hype? So you're taking time out of your day to attack a club that you have no involvement with but a poster who is happy where they are and wants it to grow and succeed deserves scorn? "Hype man has a vested interest in their kid which makes sense. Why you seem so offended by a posters support of where their kid is playing soccer is frankly fascinating. |

Any idea what is going to happen to 2006 BRYC girls team now that Larry is leaving? I know that was one of the stronger teams at BRYC and most girls may have been there for Larry. Just wondering if there will be an exodus and where they might go? Not sure where the other strong 2006 girls teams are.
Sorry if this has been posted somewhere in this thread already. After reading the last few pages of ridiculous back and forth I couldn't bring myself to read through all 36 pages. |
| Probably Washington Spirit VA. They have an amazing 06 group. |
