How about looking at what its designer, William Tappan Thompson, said about what it meant as a symbol:

Such a flag…would soon take rank among the proudest ensigns of the nations, and be hailed by the civilized world as THE WHITE MAN'S FLAG.

The flag referred to here that has been flying in South Carolina (Stars and Bars) and you claim was designed by Thompson was not designed by him. He designed a flag that was adopted as the flag in 1863 that was known as the Stainless Banner because it had a pure field of white with the battle flag in the upper left hand corner. The flag in question (Stars and Bars) was designed by William Porcher Miles and was rejected as the national flag in 1861 but went on to be the battle flag of the Army of Northern Virginia. Since that time it has been commonly called the Confederate Flag but it never was.

So, your quote by Thompson does not apply to the commonly called Stars and Bars flag.

The intent remains and is crystal clear.

No, they did not. I've been to many Tea Party rallies and these signs did not exist. It was atypical in some areas and they were usually asked to leave - firmly - if they showed up. And how would you know a photoshopped image from one that's not? Do you just believe everything you see in a still photo, given technological advances today?

I can tell you that in at least a couple of states that I am very familiar with...there are those born and raised, or moved in at a very young age...there are Yankees who have moved there and haven't lived there long...and naturalized. Now, how do you know they have gone from Yankees to being naturalized? At least 10 years residency, twice the Federal requirement, and they don't say could you guys, or youse, get me a pop...it's can one of y'all grab me a soda, or Coke.
