And you should be reported for this.

Wait until march when i play college basketball games on the smart board during class

He’s just trying to rage bait you. Most interactive games are educational for a variety of reasons. Personally, I try to integrate them into class when I can. I’m not sure how smart board basketball works but it might be a nice reward for a class of students who accomplished a goal or objective.

I think this teacher was saying he would literally broadcast the NCAA March Madness games, not play games with kids...

Yup. That Thursday and Friday are already blocked off as make up days and we will have games on while they do make up work. I’ve done this for
years

Wow. Subpar teacher.

Would you rather i take them off and leave them to have make up days with a sub? This way i am at least in the room to assist and answer questions.

College basketball is my biggest hobby. Im allowed to have interests outside of teaching

You’re allowed to have hobbies outside of work. But just as I can’t just watch sports games while I’m working, neither should you! Tape the games and watch them at home…

Don't act like half of America doesn't watch March Madness at work

Nowhere near that many.

I don’t even watch March Madness at all. No interest.

I don’t either, but many of my colleagues and students do, so he’s not wrong that it is popular.

We do a class bracket. Winner usually gets something like their lowest assignment excused. Its fun. The kids like it

So instead of discussing the world cup...

What are people's actual predictions?

1. Retract the delay: start on time
2. Keep the delay
3. Closed for the day

My bets are on #2- keep the delay.

People are bored of predicting the inevitable. It should be open with a delay. Most likely MCPS is going to close it though because some kids won’t be able to navigate the icy sidewalks. Because if some will miss out, all have to apparently.

They're going to stick with the two hour delay. Every school I've seen is fine. The county has been out in force, even clearing sidewalks at some major intersections.

A couple people here will scream bloody murder, but it will go fine. Those people will never admit it, though.

Because some parents have anxiety, not because the kids would actually have problems.

I hate to disrespect our hard working bus drivers but many of them simply aren’t experienced enough to navigate some of these narrow streets. Its not their fault that the cdl course doesn’t cover this sort of stuff

I say 3..... I'd like to see a bus come down my street with cars still snowed in and it basically being a tight 1 lane

While there have always been bad teachers, this one is just being a jerk. I’ve never had a teacher who has done this, my kids have never had a teacher who has done this, and I’ve never worked with a teacher who has done this. This is not normal, don’t assume it is because of how flippant they are being about the situation.

—Signed a teacher who is sooo ready to go back! These kids need to be in school!

Why are you being such a goodie too shoes. I haven’t done it myself but I have seen other teachers do it. Teachers do all sorts of crazy shit

Some are a one lane without snow. With snow banks it's hard for even a sedan to get through. What is the plan with bus stops? Make kids walk a mile to their bus stop??
