What about Monday?

If everyone sacrificed just like 1-2 hours of their day on Saturday or Sunday and removed snow/ice from public property we could probably get a lot done.

We just had two guys clear our driveway. They had a pick axe. And then they had to haul big blocks of ice out of the way. It took over an hour. I'm as frustrated as everyone else, but this is not every day snow...we all just need to suck it up.

It doesn't get above freezing until Monday afternoon and only for like a couple of hours. Not sure how some of this ice will be removed until it's above freezing for a bit longer than that - hopefully Tuesday afternoon.

A two hour delay on Monday would represent a complete failure of leadership. Taylor should lose his job if that comes to pass.

The email laid out a whole bunch of requirements for Monday that allows a 2hr delay. Most of the school parking lots are a disaster, roads probably wont be much better. So, plan for a possible day off on Tuesday.

For comparison, UMD college park is also still closed with no heat or hot water. I wonder what the state of schools will be even if they can open.

And the county seriously has to talk to the schools. I walked by the MS near me. The long stretch of sidewalk in front of it is clean but you can’t access the sidewalk due to the huge piles of snow blocking the entry points.
And since I am out walking a lot, I can see how those that put some extra effort in on Sunday aren’t dealing with an ice block mess this week. This storm wasn’t a surprise.

Sigh. No. We don't have the resources, and if we allocate more resources to snow removal for major storms that come every 10 or 20 years, it takes money away from something else.

That is something I wondered. Has the heat been on at all in these buildings over the past week? If not, that first day back is going to be miserable. Also hoping that the night crews did a great job cleaning last Friday or else there's going to be a lot of fun critter related incidents when we come back to school

Like what? Taylor’s expense account?

I personally think we should pay more taxes to prepare for a once in a decade incident like this. MCPS should have a fleet of at least 100 snow plows and just as many bobcats ready to go at a moments notice. While we're at it, let's put an actual dome on the Cougar Dome

You know what they do in Eastern Europe? They wait for spring to melt the snow. Let's do like them.

Jokes aside, situation around school here is bad. No sidewalks cleaned, no parking lot. Super hard for cars to pass on a two lane road. Don't see how this is going to get done. Pressure is on MCPS but if they open and we have ton of kids with broken limbs on Monday, it will be a bigger scandal.

I mean, yeah, that's right. And they go about their business in the meantime. Why are people in MoCo so scared of snow?

No, he shouldn't- but the rest of us with critical thinking skills understand this.

You're not making a great case for yourself.

DP. There's no way Taylor's contract will be renewed.
