Joe has already said NO WAY. Too bad for the Parkinson’s specialist repeatedly coming to the WH. The meds typically need constant tweaking.

Agree with this. But what happens if independent panel determines one of them has dementia (or something else) and states don’t have mechanism for changing who is already on the ballot (as pp indicated)?

Does that really change anything? There's already a very real and substantial likelihood of one or both campaigns imploding. Why delay? Better off just putting the whole thing to rest, to give both parties a reality check and an opportunity to figure out how to move past this and recover. In fact I'd love to see the cognitive testing for both of them televised live. FWIW I'm not all that convinced that Trump would do well. If anything I think Trump is better at masking his problems than Joe is and it manages to fool a lot of people but I think he has gone SERIOUSLY downhill in the last 15-20 years and that there's a high likelihood of Trump showing up with one or more troubling diagnoses after a thorough and rigorous screening. And maybe this pops the deranged MAGA bubble and gives the GOP the reset that they really need.
