All of this. It's not just pot, it's PCP laced pot, crack and people sitting on the sidewalk in broad daylight shooting up. There is a large and historic open air drug market. It's grim and not at all family friendly. As Matt Y said today, Bowser is the best of the lot re: crime and business and NONE of this is good. The question about the potential loss in revenue was a good one. She claimed $25M directly and a lot more indirectly. I suspect more. |
Because the grunting of the players is too loud? |
They should tax commuters. /s |

Mendo is not there. She was just asked and said he had another engagement.
VA Ds and Rs at all levels work together. DC does not. Tony Williams is there. |
| Tom Sherwood is a local treasure and should be protected at all costs. |
Ummmm have you seen Alexandria? |
He wrote the book—literally—on how bad DC got in the 80s. |
Great way, Skippy, to get more people back to downtown offices and businesses to move to DC! |
Then he has the title for his next book: DC deja vu, all over again. |
| quick - somebody put AirTags on the caps and the wizards. |
| Where was Mendelson? |
This was legitimately funny. |
Matt Y is terrified he’ll get knockout gamed AGAIN. (He lied about it the first time it happened and that was back in the Fenty era when crime wasn’t half as bad as now) |
+1 I live in VA and am sad about what is happening to DC. I’ve been in this area for nearly 15 years and chose to live in Arlington b/c my job is here, but I’m right near a metro and enjoy going into DC for restaurants, entertainment, etc. I had never really felt too unsafe in DC (at least no more than any other city), but lately I’ve found myself not wanting to go there with my young kids. Which sucks because I chose to live close to the city because it is (was? could be again?) a great place. Taking the orange line to metro center is actually way easier for me than driving to Alexandria or switching metro lines plus I like the excuse to switch things up and go to dinner in DC. I honestly don’t understand why DC gov cares more about the rights of criminals than its law abiding residents and business owners? It’s like the latter is just an afterthought now. |

I don't get it. What does Mayor Bowser do all day?
In a month she has lost the FBI and the Caps/Wizards. How much does the city have to lose before we all admit that the city is collapsing? This is kind of a nightmare. Follow the money people. The money is LEAVING the city. |
