So what? Pride’s A teams generally play vastly superior competition than MC Elite’s A teams. For example, look at the competition faced by Pride’s 2027 Red team at LFTC as opposed to MC Elite’s Midnight 2027 team at Champions Cup. Not even close. In addition, the same Pride team destroyed Stars Light Blue in the fall, while the same MC Elite team was just destroyed by Stars Light Blue in the Champions Cup. Stop pretending that MC Elite is in the same league as Pride. MC Elite’s A teams are generally as good as Pride’s B teams. As a club, Pride certainly has issues, but their teams are much stronger than MC Elite’s.

The champions cup can’t even draw the top teams. All the top HS teams minus Capital were in Hershey at Summer Genesis. And the younger Agra’s weee all at lax for the cure. MCE can’t even win in the lower brackets of a tournament that was full of mediocre teams.

With 2025, the #1 team didn't play anywhere, #2 was at Champions Cup, #3 Genesis, #4 Champions. Can't even draw the top teams might be a stretch even if a bunch of lower ranked teams went to hang out in Hershey but 2 off the top 4 were in Maryland.

What MCE teams played in the top brackets?

Adding to this, there were unranked teams in Hershey too, at least in the HS age groups. And, a lot of college scouts at Champions Cup looking at the top 2025 brackets (which is where 24 and 25 Capital chose to play). I would guess there were great games in Hershey too (I wasn’t there so I can’t comment directly).

Broad dismissive generalizations claiming whole tournaments are mediocre don’t help anyone. These are HS and MS girls looking to develop their games. Why does this thread need to cut others down?

Maybe one-day champions cup will be there just not yet. Fact the vast majority of the top clubs go to Genesis. M&D, YJ, SW, Primetime, Monsters Heros, HHH,CT Grizzlies, NXT, MDU. # 1 didn't play 3,5,6,7,9,10 were at Genesis. as well as 17 of the top 25 and 30 of the top 50.

I am not saying Genesis is bad but there were top teams at both tournaments, some grad years more than others. My point is that brackets mattered and age group mattered, and you have to look at the details. I would have rather had my kid’s team play in a high pool at champions than a lower bracket at genesis. There were a lot of coaches at champions for HS top pool. And, there are a lot of unranked teams in low brackets at both tournaments. You may feel differently. There can be a lot of different perspectives as well as goals that kids are trying to get out of the tournament.

Which of the MCE teams played in the top brackets?

Easy to look on TSIC tournament app

And actually hard to understand on the Genesis app.

If I am reading correctly, younger girls played in top brackets (assuming 1 is best and 9 is worst)

I think you are projecting. I am looking for a place where my daughter can improve. She is well aware of the USA lacrosse rankings. She is trying to put her head down, do the work and improve her game. I have never heard or seen any girl or parent on her team be anything other than self-deprecating. If anything, I wish they would develop a little more swagger. It might help their game.

HAHA, we pulled our DD a couple of years ago from that sinking ship and headed North and I would really recommend that if your DD really wants to improve her game the best thing you can do is head north as well. The coaches show up to everything unlike at MCE they are at every game and practice and they actually teach skills. That swagger is a by-product of winning but unfortunately at MCE most of the teams can barely stay competitive even in the lower brackets that they are in therefore no swagger. Swagger is not what they are missing what is missing is teaching skills and having consistently good coaches at every practice and game does.

The younger ages only had 1 or 2 brackets which makes the statement a little misleading all be it I'm sure unintentional. Again like with the HS ages the vast majority of the top clubs were in Jersey at lax for the cure not at champions. In the HS ages the MCE 24,s were in the 6th of 10 brackets, the 25's 5th of 11 the 26 m 3 of 10 and 26 Carolina 9th of 10.

Sorry, I was the one who posted that and did not mean to imply MC Elite teams are close to pride teams in terms of competitiveness. Was simply pointing out that a lot of these girls are working really hard and are facing stiff competition so that must be rough for them. I understand that pride is playing against some of the very top teams in the country but it doesn’t seem like it is very valuable if you are almost always losing and the girls feel defeated before they even step on the field.

I think it is worth it if they are competitive in the loss. The Pride 2027 Red team won 1 out of 4 games this weekend, but they beat BLC, the #10 team in the country, by 5 goals, after only beating them once before in several matchups. They also lost to Skywalkers, the #29 team, even though they had beaten them in several previous meetings. You should play in the highest bracket you can reasonably compete in. That’s how you get better. It doesn’t matter if you lose, although certainly winning is more fun.

This isn't helping PP as many of those 27s will be at Capital next year and no longer playing for Pride.

Just go to all of the tryouts. MCE tryouts for 27 are first, next week, followed by Capital, then Pride. Be honest on where your daughter stacks up. If she is truly an A player go where she will be up one of the top 5 b/c then she will really stand out as all tourneys in HS are pretty much showcase. If doesn't make Cap Blue, it is not the end of the world, Pride and MCE top players have recruiting success too. Winning is fun, but not the point of HS club.

Please if you would explain to everyone how the club teams get into the top brackets?

I can it's because they are get this WINNING as well as playing COMPETITIVE games against the TOP teams and those are two things MCE simply does not do. Don't believe the lies they will tell you about how winning doesn't matter that is a load of BS.

I am not a college coach, just a parent. I'm just not sure college coaches are running to games of teams who are terrible. I am not saying who or what programs are terrible - I'm just saying I assume coaches make assumptions about bad teams and the players on them. If someone knows of a player that has been recruited to a high-level college program off a travel team with a losing record, please set me straight.

You are missing the point. The team is made up of players. Those players get better when playing against other players on the best teams they can reasonably compete with. That is true whether they stay with Pride, go to Capital, or go to some other club. Do you understand now?

I am not certain if college coaches know the record of a team, but they do know the bracket they are in. It is unlikely a top D1 program is going to see a lower-level team unless there is some unbelievable player. On the flip side, it is unlikely you will see a lower-level lacrosse program (D2 etc.) at a CLC Blue/M&D Black game since most of those girls are going D1. I saw a lot of colleges I had never heard of walking around last weekend at the tournament and they seemed to be avoiding the top group(s).

Is MCE playing anywhere this weekend they are not at lax for cure or at Sumer genesis that I could tell?

29s and a partial 30s at Beach Blast. I say partial because the team is listed as MC/Stars.

Doesn’t look like the HS or any other team is at any minor tournaments like Project 120 or Continental Cup.

I guess the had to borrow players to make that 30 team they probably couldn’t get a refund after the whole team left.

Smart. Don't want those girls wasting their time at L4C. Not much recruiting happening there.
