BA.2 surge hitting US in April/May

Your kid is probably going to get sick 5 or 6 times a year. If one of those times it happens to be covid... it statistically and scientifically likely won't matter.

Seriously? Its not the kids in our home I worry about getting sick, its the adults. Lucky you covid is no big deal.

Sorry, I’m not testing my kids’ colds either.

What does that mean? Can you test a cold? I’ve never heard of that.

Do you have your kids wear high-quality masks when they have symptoms and are out in public, including at school?

DP. Why would they? They didn’t before covid. People get sick from time to time. It’s normal.

Because that's what the CDC recommends.

Well, I let them eat raw cookie dough, too, so at least I’m consistent with my belief that the CDC guidelines are ridiculously cautious.

If they don’t care enough to get vaccinated/boosted and wear good, self-protecting masks, why should I care? And if they do those things, then covid isn't going to be a greater risk than countless other things they face on a daily basis.

So other people should wear masks all the time because you are too selfish to test when you or your kids are sick or to wear a mask when ACTUALLY sick? You are a lovely person.

Lots of people have asymptomatic cases or symptoms sufficiently mild enough to not be noticed as a sign of infection. If you’re terrified of covid, then I don’t see how symptomatic testing and masking would rationally calm your fears.

Who cares? We can't stop them. Decent people who are sick should at least make some effort to avoid transmitting to others, especially if they haven't tested. You don't see how testing to make sure you don't have COVID or your kid doesn't have COVID before sending the kids to school with symptoms would address rational COVID concerns? I'm more terrified of selfish and ignorant people like you than I am of COVID.

Ok. I don’t see how testing or masking would rationally address that fear, either.

Testing and masking when sick is basic human decency, something you apparently lack and are passing down to your kids. Hell, I'm not even saying don't send your kid to school sick or that you must test. I'm saying that at minimum, your kids should wear a mask and try to avoid spreading their sickness.
