Hayfield Football Coach Fired

Other top programs DO NOT want an investigation into their program. Bringing in 15 - 30 players at one time is absurd but there are well placed systems and reason why the top teams almost never change to why teams all of a sudden become good when a different coach shows up. Once your program is mature you just need to get a few well placed transfers. Also, the coaching community is small. They bump into each other all the time at the local colleges and 7 on 7 camps, youth games etc etc.

People here posted that WTOP seems to print more pro-FCPS. I am confused by Chad Ricardo/Fox5. He is said to have early on used Overton as his single source to say that VHSL had not sent a sanction letter to Hayfield (which was wrong). He later was mostly silent as Fairfax Times was posting texts, etc. but I just saw on Nov 15 he posted on his X: “If the glove don’t fit you must acquit.” Presumably after court said Hayfield could play. He used OJ as a comparison??? He then now has a 1:1 with Dunne. Is he trying to look more neutral now? Whatever the case….compare to OJ???

To be fair. I dont think anyone consumes Chad's reporting for scandals. He seems to be there for the (high performing) kids. TBH I like it that way too. There are more than enough stories out there. Its hard to be focused on a team and sport that honestly most of the area can bypass anyway. Its hard enough to get a normal person to care about WCAC football that that's the second best league in the entire country.

He bills himself as a reporter/journalist but doesn't seem to correct his errors or source his information reliably.

Well OJ didn’t do it and they didn’t prove Hayfield did it either. That all the man was saying.

OJ did in fact, do it.

So he was banking on other programs not wanting to investigate them as a means of getting away with it? Wild. Why couldn't he just stay at Freedom. I don't get why he couldn't have just built a team there?

Folks in PWC were getting sick of him. The guy always seems to overstay his welcome. PWC officials were coming down on him for using county property for his own personal gain and finally starting to fine him for it. And, the administration at Freedom was becoming less tolerant of his flagrant recruiting as they knew they'd eventually get caught.

Oh, and he also lacks the ability to build a team. He's always had to break and bend rules to achieve success as a coach.

It’s actually sad because Overton and his staff can coach. You can see it on the field when they play. If he dropped all the talent collection he would be able to prove it to everyone. Currently all anyone sees is an all star team put together from youth football. Hayfield was a great opportunity for him because they do have some talent there. If he would have been patient and worked with what was in the building he could have built a consistent Region title contender and if the stars align a state championship. He had no willingness to try that path.

Yeah, you're wrong. He's never proven he can coach. His offensive play calling is pedestrian at best. Also, no one sees an all-star team put together from youth football. They see a collection of illegally recruited players, many of whom he'd never coached before, brought to Hayfield, in many cases possibly so by violating the law. Your last sentence is right though, so there is that. Sweet comment man.

No elite coach wants a team that doesn’t have talent. If you follow competitive amateur sports, you will have seen lots of good coaches quit when they can’t get talent.
