There are many, many people who are killed by gun violence each years, many of them kids, students, just minding their business. It's so gross that the Right is blathering on and acting like this guy was some sort of christ-like figure. And they say NOTHING about kids. Nothing about Minnesota. Nothing about the church in Georgia. Nothing about the kids in Denver, etc. THIS is what you use your social platform for? GTFOH.

He didn't deserve to die, no matter how vile he was (and he was). But neither does anyone else. Charlie didn't care about them, though. He thought gun policy would affect other people and didn't care. So I'm going to show him as much empathy as he has shown other people and other victims. He gets no further air time from me.

I don't know what to tell you. I listened to him every day while driving. I agreed with a lot of what he said. None of it was strange. He had the kind of opinions most of our parents held 40 years ago plus being an excellent apologist for Christianity. Now he's dead, killed in front of his own little children. and most people where I live cheered that death. It was that cheering that jolted me, far worse than the killing itself. That people I considered friends want people like me to die for our opinions.

That is horrible, and I am sorry for your experience, but truly you have strange friends. I have one social media friend out of hundreds who made a crass comment and not one other friend said anything remotely close to "cheering." Yes some people criticized him, which apparently the Trump administration is trying to get people fired for, but cheer? That is disgusting and not normal.

I've seen numerous posts from people saying things like, "If you are cheering his death, unfriend me now". Do they really know people who are cheering this, or are they wrapped up in the perception that there are numbers of people they know who are?

I don't agree with his views, I'm not going to mourn him, but I don't think in any way he should have been a victim of violence. I don't know anybody who has said anything remotely celebratory.

Murder 2 accomplice in most states.

Roommate knew of it after the fact, not before

The voicemail said: go get the wrapped rifle later in the trees behind the XYZ building.

Oops.

That is AFTER

What rifle?
What he be talking about voice mailing me like that.

As tons of people who know have said previously, it was not that impressive a shot. No one would aim for the neck (generally "center mass"). There was a scope involved and the distance was not all that far.

The Army used to train up to hit center mass at 300 yards (been a while since I last qualified, so I'll only speak to my experience).

I thought the bullet bounced from chest to neck

“Having the same beliefs are parents had 40 years ago”? Like women and black people being lesser than?? That’s not odd? What happened to him is indeed horrible. Everything I’ve seen from friends on social media-including those on the left-agree. Not one of them is celebrating. You have some interesting friends, PP. And if you look at places like X-you see foolishness on both sides but only one side is calling for a Civil War and bloodshed.

I was raised by an older parent born in the 30s who used the "n" word.

I worked with someone who just recently retired who grew up in the deep south and still remembered having to use a different line at the doctor's office.

Where was it released that he has a transgender boyfriend? Or are you going on the clothes being worn?

If it's the color of his clothes then there's a fairly popular tiktoker, and very big Kirk supporter, who must also be transgender. He was wearing pink the other day.

Get off DCUM and go read some news blogs. It’s everywhere today.

Not only are people cheering Charlie Kirk’s assassination, they are actively threatening Trump, Matt Walsh, and others.

This is not the way. We have to be better than this.

Good grief, woman. 40 years ago was 1985. You really think women and black people were "lesser than" in 1985? You don't know much.

That’s going both ways. There were plenty of posts in this thread that were deleting that seemed like veiled threats.

I don’t think we know. It doesn’t make sense it would be after- he wouldn’t know what he talking about unless he knew of plan prior.

In one of the articles, a neighbor is quoted as saying they did not think or know the the roommate is transgender. I think it is being inferred and there is no confirmation. My very straight husband wears pink.

What do you think it is about the Christian right that f@cks these kids up so hard?

The story is always something like “he was raised in a strict Christian family and now he’s living with 10 male hookers and had 50 guns in the house. His dad was a cop, and the mom knew her place. They were all molested by 100 Boy Scout troop leaders.”

If people are *cheering*, that's sick. There are a lot of us who find the act horrific, would NEVER condone killing someone period EVER, let alone for speaking about political beliefs, AND we also think this guy Kirk was a horrible person. It is really hard to swallow all the BS going around about how great this guy was. He was an absolutely awful person who tried to pretend he was a Christian. That offends me (as a Christian). I can condemn the act and I can condemn the things he said. These are not mutually exclusive or opposed.

The fact that you think your FRIENDS will kill you for your beliefs means either (1) you have absolute freak show friends or (2) you are the one with mental illness here, a little too high on your own self importance and marinating in your RW persecution complex based on propaganda. The whole idea that the MAJORITY of democrats or liberals are out to kill people makes absolutely no sense based on the policies we fight for and the beliefs we espouse. If you think otherwise, you have been drinking too long from the RW poisoned well.

And speaking of inappropriate social media comments, what do you think about our POTUS calling for violence, vengeance, and beat downs on a huge group of people, none of which had anything to do with this killing. One person perpetrated this killing and he is in custody. Do you think it's okay that even before he was apprehended, the RW politicians, including the frickin President were calling for violence, vengeance and retribution against democrats/liberals?

Unless your answer is an immediate and emphatic no, then it is your friends who should really be afraid, because you are a lying hypocritical psychopath.

Be consistent or sit down.
