As a parent, I can’t imagine selling out my child to the tabloids. Even if I was upset with them or angry, selling information about your kids to the highest bidder is so morally bankrupt, I automatically have zero respect for them. They think they’re making Meghan look bad, but all they’re doing is showing the world what she had to overcome to get where she is.

Honestly, every time I see one of these stories, I gain more respect for Meghan. Getting away from those vultures is no small feat. Good for her.

But she escaped the Markle’s years ago. Has nothing to do with leaving the BRF.

Sure, she cut them off after they sold her out to the tabloids and published horrible letters about her. But look, Thomas Markle and Samantha are still trying to drag her down. He’s testifying in support of the tabloids in an upcoming trial. Samantha still shows up in opinion pieces to anyone who will give her an audience. They are the definition of parasites.

They are out of her private life, but they are still doing everything they can to drag her through the mud publicly. Again, I have enormous respect for Meghan for having gotten out of those toxic relationships.

I don’t think haters is the right word for people criticizing MM. She’s just the last person in the world cut out for the role of wife to the second son of a hide bound Royal family. She’s an actress she wants to be the center of attention— she’s like a RHOBH.
Harry on the other hand seems to only date gorgeous models who also wouldn’t fit the role.
As for mental illness : HRH Diana seemed to have some problems and MM Dad seems a bit problematic. Genetics can be a powerful thing.
My prediction: both return to their past separately. MM to acting, H to the royal family in 2 years.

I do remember watching the wedding and thinking how odd there were no family present except for her mother, but there were also no uncles, aunts, cousins, not even on her mother's side. For an AA family that's really unusual given how close they tend to be. But while I can understand Doria perhaps being an only child and not having close cousins, fair enough, but there were also no long standing old family friends, no best friends to sit with her. And then I realized all of Meghan's friends were people from her Suits day. She didn't have best friends from childhood, old neighborhood friends, friends from college, that I could see. It was all people like Serena Williams or other actors. I did think it was a bit unusual. I don't mean to make comparison to Will and Kate's wedding, but one thing I remember from their wedding was how they even invited the postmaster of Kate's childhood village to the wedding.

It's hard not to see a picture of someone cutting people out of her life when they're no longer useful to her. Who knows what the real story is with the Markles, I'm not going to give them too much credit because they do seem selfish and absorbed, but the larger picture is still there, Meghan has virtually no family connection save her mother (which she last saw at Thanksgiving but didn't spend the subsequent six weeks Christmas with, to me that is not a "close" relationship, to be frank), and also no real childhood connections or even connections from not that long ago. And it does suggest she made very clear decisions to reinvent herself and her social set. I do think there is an element of narcissism in her, viewing everything solely about her and other people solely what they can do for her.

I wondered the same thing. I don't blame her for not inviting her crazy relatives but other than that one canadian stylist/best friend or he costars, there was no one from her past. No high school friends or college or her sorority (that is really unusual), and relatives on her mothers side? maybe there were there and it just didn't get publicized?

It sounds like mental illness runs in this family. While you can see why she’s cut out Samantha, it’s strange that Thomas went from someone she praised frequently on The Tig to someone not good enough to meet her fiancée. The way he handled it rightly caused a greater rift. What’s inexplicable is how she’s also cut out just about everyone else in her life also. Her former maid of honor being a good example. Someone’s close enough to you to serve in that role then you cut them out of your life when you climb up the ladder?

For someone wanting privacy, she sure seems to love being papped. Poor Harry seems to just want peace and normalcy but won’t be getting anything close to either. He gave up his family, heritage and lifestyle in exchange for nothing. It’s not going to end well for him.

The maid of honor was a friend to both Meghan and her first husband. When couples split sometimes friends have to pick a side the MOH picked the ex husband. Her husband was a film producer and a lot more famous than Meghan at the time, considering he made movies with the likes of Robin Williams. You have no idea why they divorced so quickly. He hasn’t said and she hasn’t said. It’s cited as irreconcilable differences. At the time, of he MOH made her choice to ride with the person more connected to the Hollywood heavy hitters.
