Hayfield Football Coach Fired

Why do that? Overton hasn’t been caught violating any policy and he has proven that he is capable of building a strong program where kids can fulfill their dreams of getting recruited to play division 1 football. He’s everything a high school would want in a coach, aside from being white.

They don’t have grounds to remove him from the security position. And even if they did remove him, not many coaches are going to want to come to a school where they can’t play in the post season for their first season or two.

Hayfields best bet is to stick with Overton, if he’s not so fed up that he himself leaves on his own.

Oh man, nothing you wrote is correct. This is pathetic even by Hayfraud supporter standards.

"Overton hasn’t been caught violating any policy." The VHSL found that he, along with others, lied to the league about student transfers and tried to cover up the transfers. So, yeah, he has been caught violating policies at Hayfield. He was also caught violating policies at two prior spots.

"he has proven that he is capable of building a strong program where kids can fulfill their dreams of getting recruited to play division 1 football" No, he has proven he can recruit solid players to come play for him. Aziz proved he could build a strong program.

"He’s everything a high school would want in a coach" Then why did Freedom run him off?

"aside from being white" Pathetic claims of racism from someone who has no leg to stand on. Also, last I check Aziz wasn't White.

"They don’t have grounds to remove him from the security position." They 100% have grounds to remove him from the position. First, he allowed someone who tried giving drugs to a minor on his coaching staff. Also, he failed to take the necessary training to allow him to take the role for more than 180 days even after being notified. Both would serve as grounds to not renew his contract.

"not many coaches are going to want to come to a school where they can’t play in the post season for their first season or two" A coach who actually wants to build something from scratch, the right way, would. There are plenty of them out there.

Now, I look forward to your response where you double down on false claims of racism and take petty swipes at Aziz. It's your standard playbook, which is as unimaginative as Overton's offensive game plan.

It is cute that you are now pivoting from "We didn't cheat" to "don't fire Overton" btw...

Overton is everything a normal administration does not want in a coach. Coaches who put their administrators in jeopardy of losing their jobs are typically not wanted. At Freedom and Hayfield administrators have been fired due to what had gone on within the football program. NO CHANCE HES AROUND NEXT YEAR!!

+1 but I might change "normal" to "competent and intelligent." It is clear that Fritts, Thompson et. al are not.

Those text show that the Hayfield administration knew what Overton planned to do and they were on board with it. This is a clear cut case of unethical behavior and they should all be ashamed of themselves.

Those texts which were BEFORE he was hired would only be SPECULATION, and wouldn’t couldn’t hold up in nobody’s courtroom. Because he “thinks” it could happen doesn’t make it true. Nowhere has it been said that Overton said come here because I am here. I’m sure in his mind he knew folks would try and follow but until I see something come out that says Daryl Overton said go here because that’s where he’ll be it then it’s nothing

Except he was already in talks with them about the job and knew it was his when they reached out.

This isn't about race, it's about breaking rules.
No matter race, talent, or name breaking rules gets you fired/punished.

There actually is a chance that it went on as long as it did to avoid the claim that it was a racist attack against them.

Sorry, but being in the building, I know they broke rules and I am truly concerned that those who really orchestrated it won't be held accountable.

There was no accountability during the season for lack of sportsmanship. There was accountability for breaking social media regulations, no accountability for not following fund raising regulations, no accountability for so many other things

I truly worry that ethics will be shoved aside and again no accountability.

And yet again the Hayfraud boosters got quiet. You all need to regroup and come up with another BS excuse to justify your cheating??

When are charges going to be brought against Overton?

Ideally, soon. Very soon. At the very least, I would expect him not to return to the school after Christmas Break. A smart man in his situation would not come back. Cut your losses and try to get a coaching job somewhere around Richmond, VA Beach or at a private school. Good riddance.

I’m still trying to figure out what “misinformation” she was referring to in this matter.

And still no explanation or apology to the hundreds of thousands of recipients of that email… No indication FCPS made any mistakes during that “internal investigation.” She thinks we’re all fools.

She’s twisting herself into a pretzel trying to distance herself from this. Sad and Disgusting.

Fairfax County deserves more for $425k a year.

Does the Fx Times reporter have any other smoking guns besides the texts?

Maybe you saw some texts I didn’t see. Laughing emoji’s after mentioning some players could declare homeless doesn’t show any violation. Homeless kids are allowed to go to school and they are allowed to play sports.

It’s not funny that kids are homeless, which is why I believed Fritz should be gone.

What a dishonest and manipulative post. We all know the kids weren't/aren't homeless. It's disgusting how far you parents would go to help build this fraud of a team. You all know what you were doing was wrong. You all were complicit in the lies. On top of this, you have the gall to spout all kinds of religious nonsense as if God is on your corrupt, dishonest side and then yell racism when something is done about this.

Where's the money the team mom raised?

Intelligent people would bet yes on this. But it’s not like she needs them now that the VHSL confirmed that Hayfield did cheat.

Why do you think the Hayfield parents slinked away from that Dec 4 hearing like a bunch of cowards?

I feel bad for the Hayfield/Freedom parents. It’s obvious they were never taught right from wrong. It’s sad really.

2 kids declared homeless. I can believe two kids may be homeless. Is there any evidence contradicting their homelessness?

Alas, Overton is not a smart man so he will fight to keep is whopping 60K a year security guard salary for as long as he can as it is, sadly, the best he can do.
