I mean, turn OP's question around, and give us a few good reasons why we should move to MoCo and MCPS. We both work, and don't have time to babysit and un-navigateable, untransparent huge county school district that only cares about one segment of students (underperforming). What about teaching all segments to potential? [/b]

MCPS is still the best in the area and one of the bests in the nation
Leads the nation in AP passing scores. All groups in MCPS do better than anywhere else.

For "high performing " students, there is no better place than MCPS. 15 of MD 20 Regeneron scholars this year are from MCPS and one MCPS school lead the whole nation

As you can see, I posted FACTS not anecdotes or delusions.
I know private parents, NoVa parents and the other wannabes don't want hear them but these are facts, real world facts not DCUM delusions

What you posted are facts that would encourage high performing students to come to MCPS because there are many of their peers and programs offered for them to become more competitive.

Yet many people on DCUM seem to think that they need to speak out for the low performing students. So your facts mean nothing to them - these facts are not related to their interest.

Those programs are moot.
They are 60 minutes away from a bulk of the highest performing students (as MCPS put magnet programs in troubled schools in troubled neighborhoods).
The number of seats in the program hasn’t grown much versus MCPS population skyrocketing. Esol the most.
AP test scores? sAt or ACT? Seriously? How does that address half the points brought up or the k8 lack of curriculum or ES shortcomings?

MCPS added a SMAC program at Poolesville. There are IB programs at many schools. Magnets at Wheaton and Einstein. Apex at WJ. Cap at Blair. I am sure there are more.

Students who would otherwise be high performing will be fine. We live 5 minutes from an IB program school. We're staying put. People need to R E L A X.

The magnet programs are "moot"? Because they're not in Bethesda or Potomac? Seriously?

Some of these neighborhoods certainly do seem to be troubled, at least if you go by what you read on DCUM. Whether they have a rational reason for it is a different question.

Nonsense. I am Asian and will be moving to VA if this comes through, I am done with MCPS.

I was going to add and Asian people to above poster.

Why do people think that diversity = bad? Seems like some false sense of white/Asian superiority or something.

Of course they are moot to you because facts don't fit your narrative.
Did you check out why they were posted ?

I'm guessing that this family of a high-performing student is not planning to move anywhere:

No false sense about this. MCPS was test scores show this.

So you both confirm that this is about race. Nice. We're down county already, which is why I asked. I have not seen a correlation between diversity and "bad." So glad you're not my neighbors.

Nope. Not in Potomac/Bethesda. Second statement is just sad and ignorant. You probably also think your kids are just naturally smarter rather than over enriched to get ahead. Lower SES just means they can't afford A++, tech camps, Dr. Li and Hopkins CTY.

We moved to Virginia. Fairfax district- there are tons of bilingual immersion schools in Spanish and English. Schools like baileys are 80%++ ESOL and FARMs yet test better than MCPS ESs. They do do similar things like MCPS, for example they put a magnet program for k-5 in Baileys in order to get more English speakers. Just 10-20% tho plus bussing. So most kids go to their neighborhood and then they did something appealing to get volunteers for the other sentiment to elect to attend. Nothing forced, this if something is oversubscribed it’s luck of the draw if not merit based for older children.
