Where are all you families of high performing students planning on moving to?

Jumping on the private bandwagon.

If we moved anyplace, it would be DC, just for shorter commutes as we both work downtown.

I too grew up in lousy public schools and had lousy parents on top of that. And we’ve decided that we’ll most certainly move anywhere where the BOE does not dictate and force us via redrawing boundary lines the quality of school our children will be educated in. That is a privilege I choose to hang on to. So it will be private for us but so disappointed in MCPS.

I don't understand how you can be disappointed in MCPS for changing school boundaries. This is a thing that MCPS does. Did you not know that?

I suppose I should have known better, huh. I’m still disappointed.

Maybe Frederick County but we really want to just stay put in our neighborhood. We don’t want to leave but there is no way I will allow my DD to attend the proposed school. Darn you MCPS!

Prolly DC because of commute.

Private like the rest of our neighbors.

It’s gonna be a stress on our finances with the private route but we are more than willing to do that for our children. Good quality education is a priority for us.

Staying put for now- kid down the street just got a full ride athletic scholarship to a decent 4 year school (not an Ivy but hey this kid has his degree paid for!) So it things aren’t looking too bad around here

Ivy League alum (upenn) down the street not concerned about their own kid who is in public.

I think we’ll be fine.

But by all means please move to Frederick and hoco. It’s so over crowded!!

We live near downtown Bethesda and have a tiny bike commute. We won't be moving. Schools won't get that bad, sorry.

Staying and hoping my kid goes to Woodward. The performing arts magnet is going to be so awesome.

Why would a kid getting an athletic scholarship provide you any comfort? I don't think anyone things changes will diminish the quality of athletics, which will be far more important than academics for an athletic scholarship.

It also seems odd that you are putting much weight on one particular person's opinion, which you seem to value more because he went to an Ivy League school. Getting an overall sense of what your neighbors are thinking/planning might have some value, though.

For the record, I am not planning on going anywhere and think this is a lot of hyperventilating over almost nothing - at least at this point - but I don't understand your logic.

They won’t...for a while that is.

We’re prepping like crazy as we’re hoping to get a spot into one of the magnets. The competition is gonna be fierce I hear.

So what exactly do you mean by ‘that bad’? How bad does it have to get before it is bad enough to have to move?

Are you hearing this anywhere outside the DCUM echo chamber of paranoia?
