Husband confessed to killing pregnant wife and their two daughters.

I wonder why Shanann let him sit on top of her for 1530 minutes before he strangled her.

I hope he gets the needle. While it's possible to believe that he snapped and killed his wife in a rage- he murdered his two small, helpless children in cold blood and dumped their bodies in oil drums. What a POS. Anyone who can do something like that is probably a psychopath and shouldn't be breathing.

I do think he just snapped. Turned completely dead and off.

He wasn't a narcissist, no indication of anything typical of a psychopath. He didn't make a plan, it wasn't premeditated. He acted completely out of character and for no reason. It was as though he had lost all emotion and all connection to the wife / kids he killed.

He seemed to have been a pretty typical husband / father until a few months before he murdered them. No exes with weird stories, no one who expected or could explain it. Then he starts the affair and that seems to be the unraveling of the fabric of who he was. Financial stress, another child on the way, his own mother being cruel to his kids/wife.

He seems pretty much dead inside at this point.

This is a strange one.

Mr. Happy Go Lucky.

He is nice-looking, intelligent, has a good sense of humor & is a good conversationalist in general.
It is so easy to think he is just like everyone else.
Normal.

But then you go to the darkest place ever when you hear him discuss the killings -
Mostly about Bella.
And then your brain comes to its senses + you realize that this seemingly “normal” individual is anything but.

He may appear to resemble one of us.
But he is in a category all his own.

It is easy to comprehend how he fooled so many, for such a long time.
The only ones who are still fooled are his stupid parents.

Watch Dr. Phil tomorrow for Shannon’s family to speak out about the tapes.

Criminologists say that most criminals seem "normal" to people they knew, like you and I, and that they were easily fooled. Remember the guy that kept the (3) girls in his basement, then they broke out one day? His neighbors had barbecues with him, totally unaware, while the crime was in progress. Very few criminals give any signs that they are "off" in any way. I am sure most people would say this guy was the nicest guy in the world. You just have no idea. None.

How's that for rich! He's worried about whether people think he's gay or not!

Bingo. Guys like this are concerned with appearances and that is all they are concerned with.

I watched Shan’nen’s Father, Mother + Brother today on Dr. Phil & they simply emit sadness, despair & sorrow but surprisingly they did not appear angry at Christopher for the atrocities he did to their daughter/sister/grandchildren/nieces which speaks highly of their moral character as well as love for their faith.

In a million years, I will never comprehend the hell these past seven months have brought them.
;(

It is so unfair that they learn of Chris’s awful truths after his sentencing hearing.
I do not blame them for wanting to change their minds..

While I have always been on the fence re: capital punishment,
I do think Chris deserves something in between.

If it were up to me -
I would let him serve five years of his sentence.
Trust me, no day is longer to an individual than a jail/prison day.

Feed him the same thing for breakfast, lunch + dinner.
Watered down soup, mystery meat, etc.
Only let him bathe 1x/week and for only seven minutes max.

Do not allow any phone calls or visitors.
Or internet.
Only letters.
From his parents.

Then after five years put him in w/the GP & let the games begin.
He might be a walking target, but then kiss up to everyone in order to survive.
Or
He may end up getting killed by a gang of inmates who despise child killers.

Leave him to his own devices.
Each man for himself.

Sink or swim.

I think that the details that Chris Watts gave about the deaths were a sadistic move on his part to make Shannan's parents (especially) suffer. He talks about himself as being completely guided by a force that made him do these horrific crimes (the devil made me do it).

What he did to little Bella - making her ride in the back of the truck with her mother's body wrapped in a sheet for a 45 minutes to an hour AFTER Bella saw her dad wrapping her lifeless mommy in that sheet was horrific. The little girls weren't in car seats - just sitting on the bench seat with their feet over their mom's body. He then killed the youngest girl in front of Bella (the oldest).

I think that he was ticked off at Bella for walking into the room and witnessing him rolling Shannan up in a bed sheet. At that point, he knew that Bella had seen too much and that he was going to have to kill the girls, too. He was ticked off at Bella for "catching" him and sadistically made her suffer for it.

He claims that they rarely argued, yet neighbors have said that they heard yelling coming from their house. It had gotten to the point where he was rarely sleeping at their home anymore. He had run out of his own assorted stash of gift cards so he used a joint bankcard to pay for an outing with his mistress. Shannan handled their finances and she was going to find out about his affair. He couldn't hide it any longer.

I can not fathom how this man strangled his wife, killing their unborn baby in the process, and then had his two young daughters ride in the backseat of his truck along with their mother's dead body wrapped up in a sheet for 45 minutes to 1 hour. He then killed the youngest girl while his oldest daughter watched. Afterwards, he killed his oldest daughter while she cried "No Daddy!"

This guy is a monster. I get the impression that he is on his best behavior in prison in order to get more privileges. He thinks he can con his way into people letting their guard down around him. They better not.

I think he is a sociopath going by his behavior and his mother. It was there all along, then married a woman who pushed all his buttons.

He never bonded with those kids. All those videos and forced smiles from him probably built up a lot of resentment over time. His mom reminded me of Scott Peterson's mom Jackie. That's where it all starts, at home.

I agree that his mother seemed twisted. I would NEVER have said anything negative about a woman my son just killed. But she did. She took the time to say that Shanann was not an easy person. She did not need to say that, it was all over the media.
Yes, son took cues from mother. Mom hates my wife, so I will hate her too.
He did not bond with the kids, but he didn't hate them. He wanted a do over, but just in the wife category. If Bella hadn't walked in, the kids would have been alive. They would have eventually found Shanann's body though.
I think it was premeditated, as in dry runs in his mind for weeks. He would have dumped her into that tank if he could have squeezed her through or if he had a way to cut her up and put her in.
He is a sociopath. Little remorse. He knows the rules of life, but he has no heart.

All said, when my dd is about 18, I will ask her to listen to his statements from jail, and the other statements from the AP and his mother and his in laws. I want her to understand how things can go. I also want her to know that some men can be pushed too far. Sad to say, but at times, we as women need to back down.

Wtf. Please don't convey those messages to your daughter. How in the hell did this woman "push" him to murder her? She did. absolutely nothing of the sort. She married a psychopath. She couldn't have known. I think that's what's so deeply disturbing to many of us, that this really isn't something she could have predicted or avoided.

Except there is no evidence of this. No evidence of sociopathic behavior or anything up until that night / day. No one came forward with stories from his past. People who knew Shanann and Chris didn't speak of him that way. The letter the friend wrote about her visits with Shanann during the month of July detail a mother in law who could be called sociopathic but nothing but positives about Chris. He backed her up and supported her regarding his family.

I would tell my daughter that if she is with a man who she believes to be dangerous, she should quietly walk away.
