There is nothing wrong with wearing a Palestinian pin in front of a Jewish person. That is not disgusting. I do agree that it is not discrimination since it was a violation of the uniform policy. The charity actively works with and donates to the IDF. The IDF kills lots of people, including children. The owner actively supports Israel in this war, by donating to a charity that works with the IDF and by paying for meals for IDF soldiers. It looks like the protesters targeted the restaurant for those reasons, not because the owner is Jewish. However, I do agree that protesting at restaurants is not helpful and should not be done. |
If they had worn Israel flag pins, they would not have been fired. That is discrimination. |
| I cannot believe people are actually defending a mob screaming “Goldie Goldie you can’t hide, we charge you with genocide” outside of a small restaurant. Unbelievable. And I’m not Jewish. |
Why is that so hard to believe? The owner actively supports the IDF, who has killed 18,000 palestinians in a matter of weeks. Some people call that genocide. |
Some people are idiots. |
Let’s test your commitment to the bolded: Ok to wear a Blue Lives Matter to work at your Black employer’s business the day after George Floyd was murdered? I didn’t think so. |
+1 These people would be screaming bloody murder if Muslim owned small businesses were targeted. The hypocrisy is staggering. |
Where is the 18K number coming from? I haven’t seen that reported. But your point stands. The owner is not being targeted because he is Jewish but protested against because of his specific actions in support of Israel’s questionable policies. |
And what exactly do you think would happen if a Muslim small business banned the wearing of Israeli flag pins? |
+1 Yeah, this is ridiculous. It’s obviously hypocritical and it’s indefensible behavior from the protesters. |
Not at all. I fundamentally object to targeting US citizens based on their ethnicity and the food they cook. I’d be equally outraged if a Muslim-owned business were targeted and otherwise treated in this fashion. |
You are the problem. You have conflated Hamas and the Palestinians so that you consider support of Palestinian people an attack on Jewish people. A |
You mean if a Muslim owned business banned wearing ANY political messaging? Exactly nothing would happen. Businesses do that all the time. |
You’ve gotten so twisted around that you don’t even know which end is up. Remember, this conversation is about protesters targeting a US owned small business bc the owner is Jewish and cooks falafel. It’s the protesters who failed to distinguish between a Jew in the US and the state of Israel’s actions. Also nice that you didn’t answer the question. |
I think it would be disgusting to wear a pin with the Hamas flag in front of a Jewish person. I do not equate all Palestinians with Hamas, nor the Palestinian flag with Hamas. |
