Duke of Edinburgh, named after the city of Edinburgh in Scotland, is a substantive title that has been created three times since 1726 for members of the British royal family. It does not include any territorial landholdings and does not produce any revenue for the title holder.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duke_of_Edinburgh There are decades where no one had the title. Charles may not give it to anyone. |
Hmm — could it be that both Edward and William are on the downlow and are both cheating with PP? |
Oh goodness, someone was not privately educated and knows nothing of Greek. |

New Zealand’s next, even after the Kiwi soldiers did that moving Hakka for the Prince and Princess of Wales when they thanked the military for participating in the Queen’s funeral On a business note, I rent houses to the Australian military and will jack up the rent when they leave the Commonwealth. They will have much more disposable income. |
This Australia, where 60% want to remain in the monarchy??? https://thenewdaily.com.au/life/royal-life/2022/09/13/monarchy-poll-strong-support/amp/ |

I saw Michael Sheen's video re the timing of Charles' visit to Wales and I agreed with him, it seemed tone deaf and colonialist:

That was awesome. “Give it back then, love.” |
I loooove Michael Sheen. Also Wales. We've been on two vacations there. |
Yes, that Australia. Those monarchist polls are crap - they were saying no one wanted Charles a week before the Queen's death and two days after - majority approval! Anything to shore up that dying institution. Oh and here's the New Zealand PM saying its inevitable. |
It sounds like she was educating her constituents, that the process would be drawn out and they stood to lose much by dissolving the treaties. Tiny countries like New Zealand gain more than they give by this alliance. If not Britain, they’ll need to find another benefactor and protector. Not sure what their options are honestly. |
LOL The U.S. does more for the Australia and New Zealand alliance. Did you forget we sold Australia multi-millions in nuke submarines in 2021? Call me when Britain does anything but drain their tax dollars dry. |
LOL, come again? You mean we forced them to break their contract with France but have zero chance of producing anything for decades? The US is stretched thin at home and across the globe, New Zealand is 150 on the priority list. Australia a tad higher. https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2022/jul/20/australia-almost-no-chance-to-buy-any-submarine-from-current-us-building-program-experts-say p.s. I linked to the Guardian lest you call me a Monarchist. |
Yes! I thought Michael Sheen was absolutely right here, I bet Charles just didn't think about the celebrations being cancelled at all. From the news article: Owain Glyndŵr day and the King's visit are "obviously connected" according to Sheen, who said: "Because of course to choose September 16 to come to Wales having only a short time ago proclaimed that he had created his son William as the new Prince of Wales and to choose this this day September 16 to come here as his first visit as King seems full of meaning." If it had been chosen deliberately, "it seems insensitive to the point of insulting," Sheen said before continuing: "If it was done without realising the significance of the date then one does wonder what being Prince of Wales for so long actually meant if you're not aware of what that day means." Sheen was also in the news recently for a stirring speech he gave on TV for Wales' football team -- if you missed this earlier you're in for a treat: https://prosoccerwire.usatoday.com/2022/09/10/michael-sheen-wales-world-cup-speech/ |
