I posted this on another thead, and it was easier to cut and paste it than type it again. OWS was a failure for Trump, not a success.

You think that Operation Warp Speed was a good thing?

After declining to be a part of OWS, Pfizer, was still the first company to come up with a successful Covid-19 vaccination. Because Pfizer would not participate in OWS, Trump's administration only purchased 100M doses to being with, enough for 50M people (less than 1/6 of the US population). The Trump administration, as was normal, banked far more on solutions that would help the egocentric President's image, so they banked the majority of the nation's funds on companies that would participate in OWS and make the OWS the highlight that would put a feather in POTUS' cap. So they invested in the problematic Moderna and J&J. By the time that Pfizer had FDA/CDC approval, Trump's administration tried to purchase more vaccines, but when the Trump administration would not purchase the vaccines in the original deal, Pfizer then made arrangements with many other nations around the world to sell to them. The rest of the original production of Pfizer vaccines went internationally while the US then waited for Moderna and J&J to catch up. Months later, they were able to get an agreement with Pfizer to purchase a second batch of 100M doses.

And even with the money that OWS pumped into those two pharmaceuticals, they were not well equipped to do the work on the vaccines and they cut a lot of corners. Even with the huge infusion of money, these two companies lagged months behind Pfizer in research, testing, clinical trials and more. Then, when they were finally able to get their vaccines finished, they were short the resources to manufacture and distribute their vaccines in the quantity that they promised and were supposed to deliver. So J&J hired Emergent Biotech to help them manufacture and distribute their vaccines. But Emergent had already been cited more than once for cutting corners, not following safe lab practices, and not being thorough on documentation. And what happened? Surprise, Emergent contaminated a batch of nearly 15M doses of the vaccine, more than half of what they were supposed to deliver (10M doses were allowed to be distributed, 15M doses had to be trashed). Even with the huge influx of cash, Moderna was never able to meet their promised distribution, often 6-12 months behind what was promised.

Had the Trump administration not pushed OWS and had just committed to purchase vaccinations from the first company that could get FDA and CDC approval, we would have had 400M doses of Pfizer vaccine more than a year ahead of when we reached that number waiting for Moderna and J&J to finish, get approved and ramp up production enough to accommodate their portion of the deal and for Pfizer's second round of production to be available to the US.

More than a year during with hundreds of thousands of patients died, many of whom may not have died had they been able to get vaccinations sooner.

OWS was a terrible mistake by Trump and so many don't understand how OWS actually slowed down getting vaccinations into arms of patients and how many lives that OWS cost us.

I agree, it's been nothing but a runaway train, and it's only getting worse. We are constantly threatened now, insane inflation, devaluation of our savings, rising costs for all the basic necessities, and now we add nuclear war threat to this and our president is talking about cyber attacks. I don't know who in their right mind thinks what we have now is awesome and that our future is bright. And tons of people aren't as glassy eyed about this horrible war in Ukraine, many are questioning and for all the good reasons.

You folks are great at casting stones, whether they are truthful or not. But let's say for the sake of argument I agree with you, what is the GOP proposal?

I'll save you the effort: there is not one. There never is. McConnell admitted as much for the midterms and said there would be no real platform, only a promise of revenge. Real nice from the party of family values.

Still waiting for an answer to this . . .

How to stop a runaway train? IDK, how about build some breaks, but I suppose that time for this has passed and we are f-ed. We have no control over what we already spent and the money we printed. All we can do is try to be more conservative about spending in the future.

You've made the point better than I ever could. You (and the GOP) have no plan. No solution.
Thanks for admitting it, at least.

If operation warp speed wasn’t done we wouldn’t have had the vaccine that liberals love.

I remember when it came out democrats were against the vaccine, then when January 2021 came around we literally had them change their talking points.

Bidenomics and the shutdown of the economy didn’t help. Inflation took off and there was no response from the administration.

Trump shut down the economy. That was under his watch.
The Pfizer vaccine wasn’t operation warp speed.
Democrats have never at any time been against a tested and vetted vaccine. No one wanted a shot that Trump pushed through solely for his political expedience. All his big talk about demanding drugs being approved on his schedule undermined confidence in anyone with critical thinking skills.

MANDATES introduced by democratic governments is what undermined confidence in anyone with critical thinking skills. If you don't understand the harm that indiscriminatory mandates have caused to ruin our trust in many health institutions and local governments (and federal government - hello botched OSHA mandates) then you need to work on your own critical thinking skills. Vaccine was released whenever it was released, many of us were skeptical, INCLUDING Kamala Harris who spoke about being cautious to take such a rushed medical intervention. But there were millions eagerly waiting for it, especially those high risk and those with anxiety who just couldn't move on with out it. These people consented to take this intervention and were happy with having received it. Had we stopped right there and focused on making high risk groups vulnerable (eldery, obese, those with specific pre-existing conditions) we would have gotten more of them vaxed and it wouldn't have been so politicized to the point where it caused a major rift in our social fabric. But democrats decided to push collectivist agenda where we should feel good submitting our bodies to whatever needs to be injected for the "greater good" and because it's good for us. Whoever was skeptical at that point became even more skeptical.

Anyone with critical thinking skills knows that the vaccine is safe. There are reams of evidence to support that conclusion. But, I appreciate your admission in that incoherent word salad of yours that you just don't like being told to do your part in helping the country get over this. How pathetic. I hope your fee-fees heal one day. These must be trying times for you.

"word salad" lover is back . You should try other catchy phrase to dismiss valid arguments. Calling it word salad just shows that you didn't think for a minute before you wrote it, because you literally said nothing else in that "word salad" of yours. You also missed the point. We aren't talking about vaccines or how good or bad they are, we are talking about MANDATES. Mandates are wrong, no matter how you spin it. Even triple vaxxed are on board and realizing this now.

If you want to debate me on vax efficacy or safety, I don't think this forum is appropriate for it.

There is no mandate.

Isn’t wearing clothing mandated? Why are you not protesting THAT?

There ARE mandates, are you f-ing gaslighting me? I already explained to you that many people are still subjected to mandates at work, and that some local governments are doing what SCOTUS had banned as unconstitutional (OSHA wide-sweeping mandates). The places that had the vaxxports and removed them didn't say they won't come back. In fact, NYC is under the color coded alert system where measures WILL be re-introduced should cases rise. It's a system already in place. Digital vax system is also being under development and will be deploying to be available in many states including Red states for the "next time"

There are no mandates. You can choose to not get vaccinated. You're just whining because you don't like the price you have to pay to rejoin civilization. Buck up and take some personal responsibility for your actions.

If I live in NYC I cannot work at all, is this not a mandate? If am a college student in most colleges, I cannot attend and finish my degree if I don't take a booster (not just if I am not double vaxed, but if I am not ok signing up for the vax subscription plan). If I am a school athlete and let's say already had Covid and don't want the vax then I am unable to practice and play. If you are referring to vaxxports as the price to join society, then this is segregation. Nobody should be forced to inject something into their bodies against their will to have access to amenities that all of us have access to. And no, I don't have to pay this price, I am not an experimental animal, I don't have to sign up to be a lab rat for big Pharma and to appease our petty shallow politicians and idiots like you.

To control pandemics we need treatments. Treatments have different risk/benefit ratio than vaccines and people are more amendable to taking treatments when they are ALREADY SICK and especially very sick or sick and in risk category. I am talking about early treatments, not hospital treatments. Vaccines administered to like as if we are chicken at a factory poultry farm aren't a solution, because we are human, and individual health and the social contract where our health is between us and our doctor must not be broken. vax mandates break this social contract where we have our bodily autonomy and choice. And if you are pro-choice on abortion then you should understanding this very well, but you are a hypocrite

You have a choice to move. You have a choice to attend a college without a vaccine requirement. You have a choice to not play football. You have a choice to visit bars and restaurants and movie theaters. We all pay a price to live in civilization.

The vaccines are safe. There are reams of evidence indicating so.

There always has been - and always will be - an interest for the state to protect public health. This is why you were ~~~fOrCiBlY iNjEcTeD aGaInSt YoUr WiLl~~~ with the polio vaccine, the smallpox vaccine, the measles vaccine, the rubella vaccine, etc etc, in order to attend school.

You are not living in reality. I do hope that you decide to rejoin us one day.
Wait, are you saying that the only places that may be called "civilization" are the blue city-states that introduced the mandates? You are just making my point of why Democrats screwed things over and how you and the likes of you are so hopelessly brainwashed that you now are fully buying into the propaganda that there are those "civilized" and there are the "Other", the undesirables, the low caste untouchables that should go live in shitholes that would embrace them. Did I get that right, you nazi hypocrite? Because the "good citizens" and the "other" undesirables is exactly the paradigm nazi and commie societies are built upon. Are you proud of yourself?

And just like your false analogy with clothing, comparing the other vaccines to this one has no basis either. I know you will ask, so here are some things for you to ponder if you will bother reading:

1) Many of these vaccines (all of them) provide long lasting sterilizing immunity, only a few require boosters every few years (not every f-ing 3 months). Flu shots are the only ones that can be remotely compared to these "vaccines" and they are not mandatory to join "civilization"

2) those previously recovered from all these diseases you listed can opt out from the vaccination easily with proof of infection or antibody tests. Nobody will inject measles recovered kid with MMR vaccine just for funzies or to be able to play school sports. Covid recovered aren't exempt from vaccinations when required for work, college, school sports or vaxxports. Even recently Covid recovered are not given exemptions even though doctors recommend against vaccinating at least within 90 days from recovery. Covid recovered with positive antibody tests are also not excused, but may be able to use this for international travel as natural immunity is recognized overseas. They must have different "science" there.

3) None of these are mandated for adults. If you are foreigner living in the US nobody would demand to see your vaxxport to ensure you had the same childhood shots. It doesn't happen.

4) YOu can postpone most childhood vaccines. We did this for MMR, no issues at all. You just have to have it before your kid is school age, but don't have to administer is at 12 months like CDC recommends and pediatrician will tell you. Some people even forgo childhood vaccines or some of them and usually there are little to no social restrictions.

5) Smallpox vaccine wasn't mandatory for everyone, mainly the army. And if you could pay a fine then you could opt out. Also if you recovered your wouldn't be forced to take it.

6) Technology of these vaccines is very different from the Covid shots. But this isn't the forum to go into the weeds on this.

I know this is an anonymous forum, but I assure you that I am not being snarky or sarcastic. Please, seek help. You are not well.

That pp has made up a whole world in their own mind and are on a crusade. The very epitome of the word quixotic.

OWS was a terrible mistake by Trump and so many don't understand how OWS actually slowed down getting vaccinations into arms of patients and how many lives that OWS cost us.

this has nothing to do with the Mandates imposed by Democrats, not Trump. The mandates are the culprit and what contributed negatively to our economy, which is the topic of our discussion. I will blame THIS administration for the disaster of legalizing segregation and splitting our society even further than what happened in 2020.

I am not a fan of OWS myself and don't disagree with what you are saying, i am not a fan of Trump for going for it and for not putting the foot in the door on treatments which I think are much more effective in making this pandemic become endemic sooner. There are mistakes done under his administration, but politicization of the entire pandemic and especially vaccine mandates and vaxxports was the doing of the democrats. Covid became a tool in the election, and it also became a tool to introduce tighter controls over the behavior of the masses in big Metro areas and make them amendable to submitting the fundamental rights of consent over what medical interventions can go inside their bodies.

It’s about the economy stupid as Carville said in the past. While costal elites buy Tesla’s and the white house appeals to TikTok “stars” to get people to secure more propaganda for their failed policies, most Americans are suffering and wondering if they should fill their gas tanks or out food on the table. If they complain they’re told to suck it up for a country thousands of miles away that no one cares about who honestly has a Nazi problem. Or their called Russian bots as that’s the new defacto “insult” now.

But the coastal elites are like the people of district 1 on the hunger games; they look down on the very people who supply them with the food and goods they use every day. While those people suffer they elected ramble on about “it’s worth it”. What a joke

No, actually. The whole pandemic was politicized in the first few weeks when Republicans called this a “blue state bug” and refused to support masking and closures. I was there. I remember clearly.

I wasn't claiming that this was referring to the on-topic discussion in this thread (e.g. the vaccine mandates).

However, the PP made a completely erroneous posting that without OWS, we would not have had the vaccines. That comment was wrong and needed to be refuted. Leaving it unchallenged would have given it a sense of legitimacy that it did not deserve.

I know this is an anonymous forum, but I assure you that I am not being snarky or sarcastic. Please, seek help. You are not well.

How to stop a runaway train? IDK, how about build some breaks, but I suppose that time for this has passed and we are f-ed. We have no control over what we already spent and the money we printed. All we can do is try to be more conservative about spending in the future.

OWS was a terrible mistake by Trump and so many don't understand how OWS actually slowed down getting vaccinations into arms of patients and how many lives that OWS cost us.

this has nothing to do with the Mandates imposed by Democrats, not Trump.

No, actually. The whole pandemic was politicized in the first few weeks when Republicans called this a “blue state bug” and refused to support masking and closures. I was there. I remember clearly.

Both parties politicized it, but it was more convenient for the Democrats to use this as a weapon against the incumbent Trump vs. for the Republicans to use this as dirt against Biden when his handling of the pandemic wasn't a thing back then. I also didn't appreciate that Democrats poopooed all the efforts to repurpose existing medications and create early treatment protocols mocking everything that didn't come with a big price tag from big Pharma just because Trump liked the idea. 2020 was a runaway train. But what came in 2021 was much worse in terms of dividing this country. Mandates came right after CDC announced that Covid vaccines do not stop transmission, this caused a huge rift in our society. Not acknowledging this is being blind and living under a rock.

I know this is an anonymous forum, but I assure you that I am not being snarky or sarcastic. Please, seek help. You are not well.

+1

That pp has made up a whole world in their own mind and are on a crusade. The very epitome of the word quixotic.

What did I say exactly that only exists in my mind? Please list specific examples. If you aren't or weren't affected by any of these things directly it doesn't mean that these challenges didn't exist or still don't exist for other people. If you live under the illusion that there never were any vax mandates or vaxxports then you are the one living in a made up world.

You are fighting “Nazis and commies” that don’t exist. I know you won’t believe me but I swear, as a proud Takoma Park resident, nobody wants to control you just for the sake of power or the devil or whatever you think we want. We just don’t want to get covid. That’s it.

You CAN GET COVID FROM THE VAXED WHILE COMPLETELY VAXED. This is happening all over the place, hello. Vaccinated transmit this virus just the same. If you want to wear a mask you can, if you want boosters, you can get them. But you are in favor of segregating unvaxed from the vaxed where unvaxed get a boot and are treated as untouchables unable to go to college, unable to work (if they live in some places or have certain professions), unable to do simple things you take for granted. This is how people like you accept that it's ok for someone to be treated differently, because they are the "other", they aren't as good or as deserving or as "civilized" to join those like yourself who you consider higher caste "civilized".
