Hold FCPS Accountable: Taxpayers demand Investigation, Transparency, and Reparations

How can there only be 781 signatures on this petition?

Smart people know that change.org positions hold no water? Not trying to be rude, but there is a reason that the pro-Hayfraud change.org petition has nearly 1,300 signatures...they're a bunch of knuckle-draggers.

Agreed. No Change.org petition can take on the system of white supremacy. That’s not happening in Virginia.

Pathetic...pivoting back to the false claims of racism in defense of the Hayfraud cheaters. Frankly, at this point, I wouldn't have minded seeing them get punched in the mouth against Oscar Smith or James Madison.

Madison wasn’t beating them, which is a huge part of the reason gatehouse received all the pressure to stop Hayfield. I don’t even think Oscar Smith was beating Hayfield.

Oh please. "Who would beat who" has absolutely nothing to do with the decisions that were made on which timeline.
Once the texts were MADE PUBLIC, Reid had no choice but to pull the team out of the playoffs.

All the texts show were that the AD knew that homeless kids were allowed to transfer in. Maybe he knew that there were a couple homeless kids at Freedom. It’s only cheating, if they weren’t actually homeless and there’s been no proof of that.

Perhaps legally speaking, you’re correct, but ethically & morally it is absolutely wrong in a public school environment to basically import 14 individuals from the previous season’s state championship team whilst adding a half-dozen individuals from neighboring schools (Lewis, Edison, etc) and private schools to build a “superteam” into a public school for the sole purpose of playing a sport. VHSL made their decision to ban Hayfield because of the ethical and moral misdeeds of administrators & coaches. It could ended there, but the Hayfield parents misjudged the sentiments of the general public and was closely followed by FCPS central. Everything is going to crumble as a result and I’ll be eating my popcorn throughout. If I were a parent of a child who was directly impacted by any of FCPS previous scandals, I’d be so happy that a silly thing like a foosball scandal would break the system and allow me to find the truth that FCPS buried…

I don't know if "foosball" was an intentional typo or not, but I really hope it was intentional.

It was an intentional typo and reference to the great American classic “ Waterboy”

I think it means the ban still stands. This litigation stemmed from Hayfraud parents suing to get an injunction for this year's playoffs (which they were able to get) with the Dec 4th hearing to weigh the parents' assertions on their merits. Since Hayfraud principal agreed to voluntarily pull team out of playoffs, sounds like parents are no longer fighting the ban altogether(?)..

Those parents were probably all senior parents and therefore couldn't care less what happens in future years. Either way, that tweet makes it sound like ban for next year will still be in place. Which it should be.

Since they played a game in the playoffs this year, the ban should be reinstated to cover two full years of postseason play. This means they should be banned for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 seasons.

I get this in theory, but unless Overton, Thompson et. al get to keep their jobs (which should not even be considered) you'd largely just be punishing kids/coaches who had nothing to do with this by extending the ban.

In the NCAA, the ban would hold regardless of who was coaching. Overton and these families wanted to play like an NCAA school, so they should get punished similarly.

if Hayfield wasn’t a threat to beat Madison, there would be no need for a two year ban.

That’s two years Madison won’t need to worry about Overton’s team. They have two years to figure a way to get rid of him or figure something out. If Overton waits it out, there will be trouble in two years.

This is comical. Someone thinks Overton is keeping his current job/getting another job at a public school or reputable private school in the area? MAYBE he can get an assistant coaching position at a "school" like Riverdale Baptist.

What’s comical is your belief that this is going to prevent him from getting a HC job elsewhere. He may have to cool it a year but he’ll get hired somewhere else if he chooses to continue coaching.

I wouldn’t count on that if I were he. Maybe he could have moved onto a private school from Freedom - that episode was also allegedly scandal plagued, but those schools mostly sell themselves as institutes of honor & integrity. Say what you will about that, but they wouldn’t risk their reputation based on the ethical and moral lapses shown in this case. Plus, there is nothing to suggest he can recruit kids to a private school where tuition payments vary, but are mandatory (no one gets a free ride to private schools around here, even your very best athletes).

Those text show that the Hayfield administration knew what Overton planned to do and they were on board with it. It also shows that Overton told them his players were coming with him which proves the case the VHSL was pushing. ALL OF THEM NEED TO BE REMOVED!! This is a clear cut case of unethical behavior and they should all be ashamed of themselves.

Those texts which were BEFORE he was hired would only be SPECULATION, and wouldn’t couldn’t hold up in nobody’s courtroom. Because he “thinks” it could happen doesn’t make it true. Nowhere has it been said that Overton said come here because I am here. I’m sure in his mind he knew folks would try and follow but until I see something come out that says Daryl Overton said go here because that’s where he’ll be it then it’s nothing

If Overton is as good a coach as his supporters say, give him the head job at Jefferson. He won't be able to just bring any kid to school with him there. If he can make those kids winners on the football field he should have a statue built.

As you don’t know that what you wrote means it would hold up in somebody's courtroom, I doubt your legal advice is sound.

But you are talking about punishing another round of players/coaches. I hear you, but just fire everyone that needs to be fired, press charges if residency fraud was committed, and move on.

Oh Darryl, it is so cute that you think you now control your future. Years of cheating and violating laws are catching up with you.

Where did you get your JD from? Asking for a friend.

The irony is you actually wrote that the text would hold up in anybody's courtroom btw.

I didn't realize the Madison coach was about to be looking for a new gig because he was found to have cheated at what appears to be an unprecedented level for VA public school football. Thanks for sharing.

Agree. The ban should be on any coaching staff involved in recruiting and cover-up. Residency fraud should be on any guilty families.
