Why aren’t males attending college?

We live in a world where it’s no longer ok to play JV- it has to be a club/elite travel team. An A- is seen as a huge liability especially for top college admissions. Everyone seems to have a 4.0 and 1500+ SAT’s. It’s not enough to volunteer at your school’s concession stand for sports events or be a volunteer usher at plays. You have to have some national level extracurricular or nonprofit. And then they have to tie it all together in a “compelling narrative”. Some kids give up because they’re intimidated from trying. 14-15 year-old boys are very much works in progress and need room to make normal kid mistakes. (And…before anyone jumps on this and chides me for sour grapes or questions whether my kid (boy) was able to keep up, my kid did well with college admissions). Just my observations.

This is all true, but only for a very, very small percentage of young people.

Most colleges have admit rates over 50%, and only about 1/3 of people go to college anyway.

Literally, like 97% of colleges have admit rates over 65%. Heck, there are a dozen top 100 colleges with admit rates over 50% and at least one (Michigan State) over 90%.

To increase young men to become teachers the public school administrators have to be more welcoming. In our blue state suburb it’s amazing how all new teachers women come from the same 50-100 US News ranked colleges(all left leaning). If investment banking is a lax bro male club public elementary schools is a liberal women’s enclave.

My DS will earn $100k as an apprentice electrician year 1. DD with a masters is earning $50k as a teacher. It’s more about math than anything larger.

Need more male role models in the schools and in our larger society. The most famous/recognized nonpolitical males today seem to be in professions that don’t require a college degree. More influencers, rappers, actors, pro athletes. Fewer astronauts, soldiers, scientists, philanthropists.

In our Northeast town very affluent starting teachers make a lot more than 50k.

Except...the tech founders/bros are all very famous and recognized...of course several dropped out of college, but they had incredible skills and nearly all dropped out of the most elite colleges.

Entertainers have always been the most famous and never required a college degree. However, I think most people realize that only 1% of those people vacuum 99% of the dollars.

Athletes for the most part are college graduates. Soccer is the one area where it's uncommon but that is mainly because the international system doesn't have college athletics and doesn't believe any athlete going pro should waste some of their prime playing years in college.

There are A lot of high paying careers and trades attracting more Men that don’t even require a college degree. The non-college careers and trades that attract more women pays lot less.

This is the answer, right here.

Meanwhile, one of my kid’s HS teachers mentioned she is getting a second master’s degree. I cringe. Why do that, especially going into debt, when it most certainly will not be worth it financially?

How many innovations; inventions; Nobel prizes; startup companies; academic competitions; etc are by men vs women?

It is lopsidedly in favor of men.

Yet, we should not infer women are somehow inferior to men. It is just different priorities and focus and natural inclination.

Women likewise are good at heck of lot of other things. Applying to colleges is one of them, especially at 17-18 years of age. I see this with my own daughter vs son.

It would just as stupid to draw conclusions based on college admissions to say men are somehow going stupid.

What kind of males? Almost all the male humans we know have attended or are attended college after high school. No male animals tho. Literally not one. It is odd.

Because learning is important for the teacher and ultimately benefits your kid.

Hate. Hate towards boys on full display here, folks.

That hate is generated 100% by the left / democrats. The gender-imbalanced college enrollment statistics speak for themselves.

DP. Is it not true that the most influential right-wing podcasters and influencers are highly critical of higher education, many having chose to forego it themselves? Do you deny that these influencers actually have a lot of influence?

Boys are hammered with negativity the moment they step on campus, especially cisgender white males:

When you are treated that way at most universities, isn’t it logical for boys not to go where they are clearly not welcomed and constantly criticized?

Are you encouraging your own sons to become k-6 teachers? I wouldn't be shocked if it's like 95% of all applicants are women.

What do you expect the administration to do? I think they are aware of this imbalance more than you, but they can't force men to become K-6 teachers.

I mean, I don’t think women or people of color were treated very nicely when they were first allowed to enter colleges, but they persisted and flourished. A lot of men just aren’t used to getting their feelings hurt or having their assumptions
challenged.

Public schools get a failing grade not even close to passing.

Translation: historical campus-sexism and racism justifies current-day discrimination against cisgender white males?

Seriously, PP ?

You do realize you are condoning racism and sexism on campus right?
