Paper is not the point of being in class. Other people is the point of being in class. Didn't your kid have access to paper during virtual school? The rest demonstrates such poor understanding of math pedagogy that I can't even respond to it, other than to pray you don't have kids you try to help with their homework. |
| I hate ST Math. At our school it is “ homework” each night 20 min. Much rather have a worksheet. |
| Give feedback about ST Math to your school board rep. Ask for textbooks to return. |

Jiji over paper and pencil... this is the start of the process for how kids slowly and systematically get left behind in elementary school... children who were once curious, excited, and wanted to be challenged, by middle school are now done, done to the point where they have to get a weekly tutor who will babysit them on their homework because they don't understand how to work with fractions (among other things) and can't do their homework on their own. The process repeats in high school but now with the additional angst and moaning over having to 'perform' (aka showing off their broad portfolio of watered down AP classes) for colleges to admire. A few pro tips for parents: 1) Ignore the above poster. 2) Ensure your little one uses uses more paper and pencil, critical for young students, and 3) Do not give them too much screen time, it will hurt them more than you can imagine. Let them play, go outside, and otherwise do whatever they want, but not too much screen time in elementary. |
What do you expect during small group? If you want differentiation, that means everyone not part of that particular differentiated lesson has to do something |

Stop with the drama, OP. They are probably starting math groups, so the students who are not meeting in a group with the teacher will get some app time while that is happening.
*My child's school stopped using ST Math and does Reflex instead. It's much, much better. |
OP, your child sounds like an excellent candidate for Catholic school. |
| I read 2 pages before I realized that the OP is from 2021! |
If you don't like it and do not think it is effective with your child, you don't have to comply. I just told them that my daughter wasn't doing ST Math and continued working her through the Singapore Math textbook we had at home. |
| I can't believe they are still doing ST math. It sooooo slow and repetitive. It's torture. |
Some students actually need the repetition. |
It's designed to kill time not help kids. If it was about the repetition, then the pointless time consuming animations would be skippable |
| It's way too repetitive and it gives them no instructions. Hate it. The imagine learning was ok and the Lexia is ok also but ST math just sucks. |
My local ES uses ST math for AAP too both at school and as homework. DD10 hates it. |
