They pulled it back. I don't think it is a done deal. It would mean 7 hour sessions for the 13-14s which seems insane. Who would do that to a kid?

The 12&U combined is just as long on the schedule which USA swimming does not allow. So they will have to come up with a new plan.

I still see it on meet mobile?

It’s still up on Meet Mobile with the new schedule. Multiple teams have gotten the information about the condensed schedule. Unless the forecast does a 180 there is no chance anyone is competing on Sunday. Their options are to run Friday/Saturday as normal knowing Sunday isn’t happening so the meet won’t finish, or try to fit the whole meet in over 2 days. I’m also guessing that the new compressed schedule would lead to a ton of scratches and make the timelines shorter.

So if half the kids scratch, 7 hours becomes 3.5 hours and everything is fine.

There are no timeline requirements being broken for the 13 and overs, even if it was 7 hours. I have been to some 13 and over LC sessions that were insanely long. The 12 and under boys session is probably at or close to 4 hours without scratches, so will probably be under when scratches are factored in. The 12 and under girls session timeline is the one that’s well over, and if the boys pool is under they can use that to assist. I think their priority is getting this meet in and making sure everyone can get out of college park before the weather turns.

As long as it's still fast to slow I'm ok with that. Just tell the kids at the end to go home in the afternoon and come back at night for finals.

Look at the current estimated timeline https://www.potomacmarlins.com/potomacmarlins/__eventform__/1512215_6cdd54b7-95bc-4768-94ec-74a6f01cd7aa.pdf

Sessions 1 and 2: can’t move any swimmers to other pool so let’s use 5 hrs 56 min for the estimate to finish 500 Free.

Then look at 2 Fly in sessions 3 & 4. Estimated 1 hr 8 min & 1 hr 30 min. Move some heats to other pool and let’s say can finish 2 Fly in 1 hr 19 min.

Then 200 IM in sessions 3 & 4. Estimated 1 hr 4 min one pool and 1 hour 26 min in other pool. Move some swimmers and lets’s say 1 hr 15 min to finish.

So roughly 5:56 + 1:19 + 1:15 for Friday, that would be like 8.5 hrs. Start events at 7 and at 3:30 ish.

Guessing a lot of 13-14 swimmers kind of close in seeding for most events, so for 13-14 swimmers maybe 7 hours of the clock to swim their 3 events.

Warm up for 1 hour and start 12U at 4:30.

12U sessions 5 & 6, 3:04 and 2:30 in length in current timeline. Move some swimmers to other pools, make it 2 hrs 47 minutes.

So 12U ends 7:17pm.

Someone please check my math.

Long day for officials but couldn’t they do that?

Your math is a little off. The old timeline for the 500 free had the 13-14s and the 11-12s together. The 13-14 girls 500 free is estimated on the old timeline to take 3 hrs 15 minutes, with 1 hour 30 minutes for the 200 Fly and 1 hour 25 minutes for the 200 IM added to that the girls pool will run for just over 6 hours on the new schedule. The 13-14 boys session will take 2 hours 25 minutes for the 500 free, with 1 hour 20 minutes for the 200 Fly and 1 hour 4 minutes for the 200 IM for a total session time of just under 5 hours. Meet mobile has the updated 12 and under session starting at 1:45 pm, so that is very tight if the 13-14 girls wouldn’t be done until 1:30, but they could move say the last 6-7 heats of the girls 500 free over to the boys pool since that pool finishes an hour earlier.

The 12 and under timeline would be 3 hours 20 minutes for the girls 500 free, and 3 hours 4 minutes for the other events, for a session time of 6 hours 25 minutes for the girls. For the boys the 500 free would be 2 hours 40 minutes, and 2 hours 30 minutes for the other events, for a session time of 5 hours 10 minutes. You could do the same thing of moving the last heats of the girls 500 free to the boys pool, but it still is over 4 hours for each session. Even with what will likely be many scratches they will be hard pressed to get the 12 and under timelines in compliance for Friday.
