I get your point you are aiming to make, but you realize that "wealth" (in relative terms) *is* the difference of these schools. Other than the non-disadvantaged state of kids, there is nothing different about Janney, Deal, or J-R from the rest of DCPS.

It's not about what I prefer. It's about people saying BASIS is not selective. It absolutely is selective for grades 7 and up, and it's important that people understand that so that they can accurately interpret data and make good decisions for their families. Is that okay with you?

People get into the feeders via lottery from any address. That's how this works. People can also move out of boundary without leaving the school.

I think everyone with half a brain understands that going to BASIS is perhaps a bit like going to MIT. It's not going to be fun, and you're going to miss out on a lot of normal kid stuff, but on the other hand, you'll get a terrific education.

Is being 17 in the 6th grade age appropriate? Because that's what BASIS is offering to some students. And that's why people leave.
