Drivers who can’t pull into a parking spot head first in one move should have their licenses revoked.
I can definitely back into a spot faster than these Neanderthals. |
Actually no: many hatchbacks, vans, and pickups functionally have no view of cross traffic out the rear window. And even in a sedan or SUV, you cannot periscope out to see who is coming up the parking aisle. Congrats on your expensive pedestrian detection system but most people don't have that even if they DO have cameras. |
Don’t get me started on driving classes and instructors. They tried to advocate putting hands at 7 and 4 instead of 10 and 2 along with putting side view mirrors angled towards blind spots and not along car line. 🤦♂️ |
Oddly, that’s one of the few times I do back in. I always back in at event parking because you’ll never get out otherwise. |
Specious at best. |
Exactly. And the people who say it is safer? Not so if you have a regular car and not a truck or SUV. I always pull in. If I back in, I can't see around the higher trucks and SUVs when it is time to pull out; however, I can see more and also get the alerts from the car about approaching vehicles or people when I use the backup camera to pull out. Much safer. |

Do people actually depend on their car’s sensors to detect pedestrians?
|
Oh yeah!? Now I'm going to go out and cruise around town, and park in handycap spots and park across parking spots from now on, taking up 2-3 spaces at least.
|
It's ridiculous. Someone has to wait while they back out later. So dumb. This is the level of discourse in America -- trifling complaints about literally anything others do. You are a shallow person OP. |
|
In today’s day and age where many cars have backup cameras, it is really quick to back in.
That said, it bothers me to no end when folks are incredibly S L O W parkers. Front or read first, just move with purpose. If you’re slow just head to the back corner of the lot / garage. |
Not entirely but it’s saved my ass a few times. |
You need to budget more time of this really bothers you so much. Jfc, nobody needs to be rushed to park their car so you can get where you are going 10 seconds earlier you loser. |
I drive a car without a back up camera. I DGAF if people have to wait 15 seconds for me to park. Y'all should have left your houses earlier. |
Yeah, decades ago. And back then I would often have to readjust or just end up too close on one side. With rear view cameras I can park a huge SUV or minivan perfectly in between the lines on the first try. Realistically, if I had attempted to pull in, you would have been waiting A LOT longer. |
| New drivers are taught to reverse into spaces and tested on it in MD. I think this is why it’s become way more common. My teen is constantly telling me I’m parking incorrectly when I pull forward. |
