Convinced people who back up into a parking spot in a busy parking garage are narcissists.

It's easier to back into a spot when the space is tight, or not at an angle. Simple physics due to how steering mechanism and vehicles are made.

Straight in parking is ick! Angled parking for the win, even if it reduces total number of spaces.

There is a definite type that chooses this parking method.

Pickups and SUVs and panel vans pretty much have to be backed in for safety. Also easier.

Based on your response, you should not be driving period. Self centered and inconsiderate individuals are those backing in to the spaces .

I agree with OP. Too many people cannot back in in 15 seconds yet do and take multiple attempts, meanwhile I and a whole line of cars wait behind them. Sorry, but they are in the wrong when there's a bunch of people waiting.

No, all I think is that they're more talented than I am!

Why is waiting for them to back in any different from waiting for them to back out? Either way you have to wait if you happened to pull up at the wrong time.

Pull-through parking for the win, when I can get it.

Backing into a spot is advice given to prevent being attacked in a parking lot. Maybe they are worried they will be carjacked.

If you really want to know, you’d just find all the old threads.

I agree. Some people can do it quickly, but too many people adjust and adjust and adjust. There’s no way it’s the same as when they back out of a space. And with all the backup cameras with sensors, it’s plenty safe to back out of a space.

Same thing happens when someone has a hard time parallel parking -- they have to go in and out a bunch of time. That's life.

I generally don't care how people park. But I park in a garage at work where things fill quickly and a lot of people are arriving at the same time. Multiple people trying to back into spaces takes up a lot of time and causes problems when the person behind them doesn't understand they are trying to back in. So I wish people wouldn't in situations like this one.

I prefer backing up when I know what's behind me. Backing into a spot means I don't have to back out blindly into a parking garage with people potentially walking by. So the opposite of a narcissist.

You’re not blind. Use your mirrors and check your windows.

Backing in became much easier with the advent of backup cameras. It really changed the game.

The people taking multiple attempts will also do so pulling in front ways don’t worry.
