Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
Provide actual evidence for #5. Will the clubs be built out? Why should my kid suffer through construction again and the growing pains of a new school? |
Kathy Smith would never allow that to happen. |
How so? You do know why they had the South Lakes Boundary redistricting in 2008? Maybe, you do not know. Reston has grown quite a bit, but the issues are the same. And, you also had neighbors who lobbied to stay at Oakton. It was ugly. |
This is not going to happen. I believe the PP who suggested this is trolling. And, for the PP who said they have to take somebody out of Chantilly--they are taking Oak Hill to Skyview. They do not need another school to be taken of out Chantilly. Not Lee's Corner, not Poplar Tree, and not Brookfield. |
This is the dumbest idea posted on here. So all the kids currently zoned there could switch to another school? |
The best idea was to colocate a magnet/TJ like school there along with the 1800? or so regular kids zoned there and not moving to skyview. |
We’re not talking about a magnet. |
Truth is nobody should be moved out of Chantilly because everyone can walk there, easily bike there or get there pretty fast. What is the obsession with moving ppl out of Chantilly, you ask? Oh wait, I know! RIO refused to go to Skyview, then the FCPS School Board accommodated based on politics (not logic) which then made them have to pull from Westfield to fill Skyview which then creates too many empty seats at Westfield which then makes them move kids out of Chantilly which then uproots kids from Oakton. So I dunno maybe “Rooted in Oakton” needs to be uprooted now? Call the School Board out on this bullsh**, ppl! I should also mention this also makes ppl walking distance to Centerville have to go to Westfields. Now that you know the ROOT of all problems, you can give your feedback accordingly. |
Whoa! Mind-blown! I have never seen the craziness of all this shuffling around laid out so clearly. So, basically we're all paying the price of stupidity for the RIO Grande Community? Why do they have so much power to screw up everything to royally? |
Multiple posters have already explained to you why this is incorrect. |
Nah. Chantilly had around 2900 kids and a lot of temporary classrooms. Reducing its enrollment was one of the main justifications for buying KAA before anyone had ever heard of RIO. |
Because they are mainly white and have $$$$$. |
You need to think back to the original maps. They all brought Chantilly down to a reasonable level and pulled from a couple other high schools to create boundaries that would make sense. RIO blew it all up because two or three of the four original maps had them moving to Skyview. The plan was never to move a ton of kids out of Chantilly; just the ones closest to the new school was enough. |
I was responding to the assertion that no one needed to be moved out of Chantilly. I agree the earlier maps were more sensible than the later ones. They will claim “it’s more important to get this right than to do it quickly” but the reality is that it’s not that hard to come up with reasonable boundaries for Skyview. Instead, their proposals tend to get more convoluted, and the sparring among neighborhoods more pointed, the longer they drag things out. I would fire Reid. She’s simply not up to the task of managing a school system this big. |
+1 we all need to call and email our school board reps. They need to put Crossfield at Skyview period as they are within the boundary. |
