DA soccer terminating boys and girls? “Rumors”

On the boys side the ECNL would be foolish not to offer membership to ever DA club.

On the girls side the ECNL should offer membership to all the top girls DA clubs.

Any less would risk them not establishing themselves as the top platform for both boys and girls in the US.

Someone will say the MLS academies will be the top for boys. Sure, but that is so few teams that it is not really a significant competitor for players.

ECNL wants to avoid an alternative non ECNL option forming in the area. After all they finally got Pipeline to join.

...they already ARE the top league for girls and they have been since ECNL started. Competing against MLS would be so on a regional basis for boys.

Is Pipeline official?

Should we as DA parents be reaching out to ECNL clubs now or do we wait. My daughter is a Sophomore. I don’t feel like taking a chance on a league during her important recruiting years.

It is not in the ECNL’s best interest to invite every DA club. More clubs = more competition for the better players. Besides, not all DA clubs are equal.

I would expect ECNL to cherry pick the clubs they want, and ignore the others. It gives them the opportunity to add good clubs and weakens any future potential competing leagues.

My prediction - in this area - Arlington gets an invite. FCV (bad blood), and Metro (not god enough - sorry) are left out.

1. Nothing official has been announced
2. If/ when it is announced, your club should give you an indication as to whether or not they received an ECNL bid. The top staff at the DA clubs know this was happening. This isn't a surprise.
3. In the meantime, I would explore my options to be prepared for the worse case scenario. Its always better to be prepared and not need.

Arlington seems the most logical.

NOVA - West boundary (Loudoun), South Boundary (VDA), East Boundary (Potomac river), Northern Boundary (Arlington), Midlands (Mclean and Bryc)

That's a total ECNL lockdown folks involving three of the biggest clubs (PWSI, Arlington, Loudoun) in Virginia.

Right, except ECNL has no interest in helping out your club... just their league. There's no reason to fold in Arlington into ECNL. Those DA players worthy of ECNL will go to ECNL (Loudoun, McLean, BRYC, VDA). Those players currently at ECNL will get pushed to get better, or pushed off.

Girls ECNL are pretty much at max capacity now, you think they will add more Nova clubs? They have to Be able to provide showcases for all of these clubs, EDP and CCL is where Arlington and FCV will be playing

The majority of DA clubs with EDP. They will go back to EDP and the big former ECNL clubs will be welcomed back.

That's all she wrote folks.

At the end of the day, all the decisions, whether league or family, will come down to:
1a. Money
1b. Pride
3. Best interest of the player
