But I truly loved the way she dressed as First Lady much better. The sunny dresses and cardigans, the lovely gowns she wore at state dinners.

What a happier, simpler time.

Her gowns were hit and miss. Her dress-and-cardigan styles were typically utterly unsuitable for her face and body type. MO cannot possibly wear anything girly, overly ladylike, and look good. She has the same facial type as Cindy Crawford who looks amazing in strong, architectural lines, but resembles a transvestite in anything with ruffles or frills.

Frills are not good on her, but to be fair- I don’t know anyone who could pull this look off. I think it would be hideous on anyone! It’s just not fashion.

Her natural curls look great on her recent magazine cover.
LOVE the natural look though I'm sure some people prefer the lye-based, hair-straightening chemicals that they wouldn't even put in their own hair. She looks fabulous!!

You say this like she hasn't sported a straightened look for years. Truly, if you are taking aim at lye lovers, you should start with MO.

Hmmm, I think another person has done some touches here and there to her, ahem, naturally blond hair.

Also, I wonder how you would've reacted to MO wearing this 'natural' style in the WH while attending banquets, state dinners, official receptions, etc? MO is a smart woman and knows a great percentage of folks would've complained. I know there were many days when she probably wanted to just kick the lye to curb. And you know this.

How would I know this?

There is an easy way to find out whether MO decided a "natural" style is unacceptable in the White House. Locate her photos before the White House and see how she wore it then, when she was free of public person pressure.

I don't know that people would have complained about "natural" hair. It's not about natural vs. not, it's about the final result and execution. If it looked good, no one would complain. For what it's worth, I find that straightened AA hair often looks lifeless and limp. But I have a daughter with super curly hair so I certainly sympathize with the amount of work it takes to make it look good. It's a solid 20 minutes a day routine (on short hair!), and most mornings just don't have that.

Spare us your quibble that some people wouldn't have complained about MO's 'natural hair' and the final result and execution. Some states now have to pass laws to protect the wearing of natural hair.

PP, you say if it looked good no one would complain? Hell, she looked fabulous in a sleeveless dress and certain people, certain TV stations, and certain websites loss their ever lovin' minds.

No they don’t. When the measure was just passed in Montgomery County, no one could cite a single example of a single case of alleged discrimination. It’s a feel good measure for a problem that doesn’t exist. No one cares how you wear your hair as long as it doesn’t interfere with your work (like long hair near machinery) or get in someone’s food.

Are you AA? I can’t believe how sheltered some people are. Of course hair discrimination exists- I have multiple friends in professions where they were explicitly told their hair could not be in braids or natural bc it wasn’t professional. Just bc it hasn’t happened to you doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.

Can you please post an example of natural?

You need to get out of Montgomery County and your cocoon and research before posting what you obviously didn't bother to research.

Michelle Obama is not Melania Trump and enough already with the physical comparisons. Like it or not, there are ethnic attributes and dress preferences that will not cater to the eye of some.

+1. I strongly think they have come from the Melania Trump thread to start sh!t and keep it going.

Have you seen that thread? The most bitter and jealous women in the world post the there.

The Michelle thread is better.

Michelle Obama spotted with Hunter Biden’s ex-wife at swanky DC hotspot

Michelle Obama dined with the ex-wife of Hunter Biden in Washington, DC, Wednesday night, according to a new report.

The former first lady was spotted having dinner with a group of five others, including Kathleen Biden, at the recently opened Brasserie Liberté, The Hill reports.

The group was seen dining at the Georgetown hot-spot for roughly three hours, the report says. Obama was wearing a black button-down shirt and jeans.

Hunter and Kathleen Biden divorced in 2017 after a 22-year marriage that produced two daughters.

During their split and its aftermath, Kathleen leaned on Michelle Obama for support. The two have been friends since Joe Biden joined her husband’s presidential ticket in 2008 and often spend time together going to SoulCycle or on family trips.

Michelle is a good friend. That’s why we stan ‘chelle.

Your sentiment is shared by many and exceeds any piece of cloth worn on Michelle's back. I may not remember what dress or shoes she wore last week but I remember why I like her.

Is it too off topic to post these pics of Barack Obama wearing the hell out of some chinos?

There HAS to be a way to discuss aesthetics without getting into who's a better person, or getting shamed if a better person makes an unfortunate fashion choice.
