Her natural curls look great on her recent magazine cover.
LOVE the natural look though I'm sure some people prefer the lye-based, hair-straightening chemicals that they wouldn't even put in their own hair. She looks fabulous!!

You say this like she hasn't sported a straightened look for years. Truly, if you are taking aim at lye lovers, you should start with MO.

Hmmm, I think another person has done some touches here and there to her, ahem, naturally blond hair.

Also, I wonder how you would've reacted to MO wearing this 'natural' style in the WH while attending banquets, state dinners, official receptions, etc? MO is a smart woman and knows a great percentage of folks would've complained. I know there were many days when she probably wanted to just kick the lye to curb. And you know this.

As a biracial woman, I don’t think MO was ever using lye in the WH. I think she wore wigs and falls. She had to have been- her hairstyle varied too widely.

I think she kept it short and used good hair pieces. I even wonder if she’s got natural hair now. That’s some very thick hair going on for her. I think most older women in the public eye wear wigs or have hair help- like Bridgette Macron wears a wig, whatever. It’s not a crime but let’s be frank.

Obama wearing sneakers is in the news today.

As Barack and Michelle Obama appeared in Kuala Lumpur at an event for the Obama Foundation, he sported a decidedly cool look: French cuffed chinos with exposed ankles, a fitted polo shirt à la Richie Tenenbaum, and classic Adidas Stan Smith sneakers.

^^^Yes, I've seen on social media today. Such a cool, down-to-earth President.

Melania did it last year!

I read in the comments he’s wearing women’s shoes. That’s not true, is it?

Mel looks fab.

No, Stan Smiths are available for men and women

+1. And no he's not copying Melania Trump, people have been wearing these for years.

In the WH, really?

Looks like he’s wearing women’s pants.

Why? Because they are not falling from his butt and dragging on the floor?

This forum is dedicated to MO. There's one for Trump already for you.

She looks really good.

I think the cuffing at the bottom makes them look like women’s pants, and how much ankle they show, they seem too short.

I don’t know where the nasty comment about pants falling from Obama’s butt came from, but please don’t make this thread contentious. Michelle has been ignored in the fashion forum and I’d really like to keep a thread dedicated to her fashion. She’s not thin, white, or whatever else fashion loves, but there’s a lot of women who identify with Michelle’s life, struggles, and triumphs.

You've never looked at JCrew men's section? They've been there for years.
I'm genuinely curious why would those pants look like women's, what would make them more manly. Just the length?

Sure. But in this context, Obama is cool and stylish because he's wearing adidas and skinny pants. Just making sure you're aware Melania wore them stylishly first.

Obama and Michelle are naturally down to earth people. I just love them. Michelle’s book was very good.

Please keep Melania to her own fashion thread.

Your plastic cat-faced Melania gets plenty of attention. She’s a shopaholic but not a consistently stylish one.

How would I know this?

There is an easy way to find out whether MO decided a "natural" style is unacceptable in the White House. Locate her photos before the White House and see how she wore it then, when she was free of public person pressure.

I don't know that people would have complained about "natural" hair. It's not about natural vs. not, it's about the final result and execution. If it looked good, no one would complain. For what it's worth, I find that straightened AA hair often looks lifeless and limp. But I have a daughter with super curly hair so I certainly sympathize with the amount of work it takes to make it look good. It's a solid 20 minutes a day routine (on short hair!), and most mornings just don't have that.
