Listen troll, if that's how you feel, stop hanging out on a purely DA related thread. That you feel the need to stay on this thread and post your garbage shows your own insecurities. |
The standard is lowering. Might be trolling but it’s still true. |

Isn't this entire site set up for parents to discuss topics and provide advice? It cannot be argued that the average quality level of the teams in DA has been seriously weakened with all the high-profile departures within the last year. For anyone reading a thread about ID sessions for a DA team, it would seem to be a relevant fact in considering whether to join a DA team.
At this point, DA in 2019-20 has to be considered a second-tier league from a national perspective. Regionally, nothing has really changed for DA and ECNL teams in VA. MD teams in ECNL find themselves in a much tougher regional league with the additions of PDA, FC Stars and, next year, NYCFC. |
Well regionally kinda matters when that is where you play. You keep acting like you actually play PDA or Michigan Hawks. FCV isn’t even in ECNL and has played against PDA this year more than you ever will. |
| LOL ECNL trolls sure do have a lot invested. Why don't we wait 5-10 years to see how things shake out before calling things? I have peace and security in my decision, don't you? |
Kids skip HS because DA will be the best league in 10 years...lmfao |
And 30 years after HS sports I can honestly say not a single day goes by that I ever reflect upon my playing days in HS. |

This is turning into another DA vs ECNL thread, but I'll still throw my 2 cents in here. I think DA has a purpose and should survive if the pretense is to feed YNT's and NT's. Whether it does or not depends on the (mis)management of US Soccer. On the current path, I don't think it will be successful in this primary charter. We do not need two leagues battling it out with both only primarily feeding the college ranks with good, but not great players.
1. The country is too big not to have tiered national level leagues. Feeding the NT's and the college ranks will be more efficient if there is more of a funnel. Right now it is too flat at the elite levels with approaching 170 teams between GDA and ECNL. There is not a marked difference in competitive level throughout both these leagues. What I mean by that is the top teams in GDA are at similar level to top teams in ECNL. Nearer the bottom, GDA is probably stronger, but not markedly so (these are my perceptions but obviously a limited sample size). The top league should be smaller and more exclusive if it truly is to be an NT and pro team feeder. Each tier should be broader. 2. GDA should feed primarily NT's and pro ranks. ECNL's primary focus has been feeding the college ranks and is very good at it. This should continue, however I would advocate some ECNL growth here is good because it would allow more regionalization to lessen travel. 3. US Soccer should be subsidizing GDA via scholarships so as not to exclude underprivileged families and/or those who reside far from a GDA club. In order to do this financially, the league would have to be much smaller. Perhaps as small as 20-40 teams. If we can only support 9 NWSL teams and 1 NT, we really don't need 65 teams in GDA. Regional training centers should be established to support these teams. Obviously this would require some pretty significant funding by US Soccer. 4. Roster sizes at GDA should be smaller (18 or less) to get those girls who have professional or NT aspirations on the field playing. |

NYC FC is easily replaced by SSS, so it's not a meaningful change for the conference. Tye weren't even an ECNL team prior to the DA. The DA gave them a platform to attract talent. Arlington stronger than VDA, so again, who cares?
Families trying to decide between the two should look at which teams your kid can make, see time on the field with and develop as a player. How big are the rosters? What are your kid's goals as a player? And look at your own conference to decide how good or bad the competitor level is. No one can convince anyone here that Carolina Rapids is as a God as the Charlotte Academy they replaced, as much as some people keep trying to sell the second tier narrative. |
You make a lot of good points throughout. |
To me what was most impressive was that he offered plan, and didn't bash either track pointing up they both had their place. No judgements about talent, girls, etc. just a real clear view and direction. Clearly, this individual does not understand that kind of well thought out, well articulate opinion has no place here.

Is the # of times a team plays PDA a metric for success? If so, point to ECNL. We are all aware FCV played PDA. FCV lost 0-7 then their parents had a royal rumble on the sideline. |
Then keep your kid in the DA. I played high school. It was a lot of fun. Two leagues so kids can choose. |
