Did anyone attend the spirit 2007 session yesterday? Interested in the turnout and where they plan to get players for next year. The current 06 teams has atleast 5 2007 players but who else do the pull from? Bryc? Loudoun, McLean and fcv seem to be staying put.

^^^Great Falls is the official feeder to Spirit.

What is the long term plan for Washington Spirit VA

Greatfalls?!? might has well have your local House league be a feeder.

Chill dude. They get their fields from Great Falls. Obviously not that many players yet -- the partnership is one year old. Not like top players have yet had the chance to even consider it. I suspect the feeder will be disgruntled players from places like Loudoun where once you are not on Red, you are pretty much overlooked.

Will WSVA academy be there after the 2019-20 season?

That may depend on whether or not the new owner's team has any hope of correcting its abysmal trajectory.

They need to start communicating with parents and players, and re-energize the program. Everyone seems a little disengaged right now. Just going through the motions. It’s discouraging. When new managemt come on board they said there’d be more info coming on the direction of the club. Nada.

A bunch of new, young talent, World Cup year, rising attendance, effective new CEO, and a very loyal fan base and DA families. I think they’ll do just fine.

This, exactly. If they don’t start up a dialogue with the “loyal DA families” they may realize quickly that loyalty has its limits!

I think their long term plan is to have winning teams.

They are capable - with a few changes in some key areas.

Ive seen the 2007 group in great falls and they are not DA material, so them as the only feeder is not very encouraging. Considering Spirit as an option but the communication has not been very clear.
