They’re definitely running next year. The year after that, who knows what the landscape will look like for any of the local ECNL or DA clubs. We’re betting that Spirit VA will still be around.

I think their long term plan is to have winning teams.

They are capable - with a few changes in some key areas.

A few huh

How are their other Pre DA age teams?

09s are decent. 2nd tier at Jeff Cup but did not make Championship. GFSC is 2nd in Virginia for that age.

Great Falls was not a great club on its own. Reston was not a great club on its own.. with the merger they are okay with double the player pool but there still not a great Club

Yeah, a few. Spirit has a core group. It just needs to focus on it by setting free players that aren't ready for that level right now to play somewhere more appropriate and also to play the core group appropriately. Most Spirit parents will say those are 2 changes that by themselves would change a lot.

Agreed, and definitely don’t have the talent pool that spirit needs to be competitive in the DA. The 2006 spirit team currently has 5 or so 2007 players on the roster, im assuming they will move down to their own age group next year? any news on the 2006 team? I know one or two players already left in the winter.

I knew they were running a program next season, hearing rumblings they may not have a program after that

As long as parents are forking out $4,000/year to the program, they will keep the lights on. Simple economics, people.

4000 a year? Try 10,000

Anyone know how many new kids showed up for any of the age groups?

Probably the same amount as leaving.

Sounds like an opportunity for some good players to break onto a DA squad and up their level of competition.

Only to be disappointed by lack of communication, honestly and their surrounding pool of talent. I would take a HARD pass on that.
